Maybe some changes to the levels in the beginning would be nice, it feels "choresome" the levels to fight brad.
Spell on retaliation with the heal but get injuries is a free win too, since you can just fury heal and it won't give you the downside. The one that decreases your max hp still will even on fury heal, but it's still a full heal and an auto win if you get it (even without mana or fury retaliation)
right now slow or heavy hitting spells and weapons are a bit underwhelming because most damage upgrades and any infuse mechanic (which all are pretty good or broken) benefits from fast attacks
basically never take specific curses (+cloak/spell damage) until you have a good item, I tried this a couple of times just to end up with like +25% cloak damage, +15% ground damage, +10 cloak damage while getting piled with spell drops
spells casting to the wrong direction after dashing or landing also is a real issue, annoying af and run-ender #1
New to the genre? ;P This is how it be. Dead Cells and Hades can be even MORE polarizing, I feel like, than this game.
Except for the Slaymore... Thing is freaking awesome. It has a quick upward slash, followed by a quick-ish downward slash. The whole animation is pretty long, but its saving grace is that you can dash out of it ANYTIME during the animation, making it very safe to use. It has a MONSTROUSLY huge hitbox (you can hit Maxx in the air from the ground with both hits), and does amazing damage. Its fury also buffs your physical damage by like... 50% I think? Including the Slaymore itself. Very good and fun weapon. The two hammer variants are bad though, and they really missed an opportunity giving the Rapier thing iframes but no counter attack of any kind.
But yes, *most* upgrades definitely benefit the fast/multi hit attacks more. The kunai is pretty bad at a baseline, but it scales disgustingly with things like +10 cloak damage (flat, not percentage), and any of the infuses. I literally just finished a run where I had infuse burn with +5 seconds and +50% burn damage with infuse poison, 100% poison damage, and a level 3 kurakunai (the one that fires extra shots and applies bleed) with +5 bleed stacks. It was... pretty funny actually. First time I've actually gotten the infusion boosters WITH the appropriate infusions. Usually I see one or the other, but very rarely do I get synergies in a run like that, let alone so many.
Also boons that technically are dependent from another will not get offered. In this game right now you can have +bleed stacks or duration, +burn damage or duration, +poison damage or stacks without having any means to apply bleed, burn or poison. Get some bad luck and you take +5mana on a scythe/cloak build just because the rest is completely useless.
Thanks for the tip, I found slaymore/slaygore maybe 5-6? times in 50 or so runs but never kept it, good to know the upward portion also deals damage.
Try the dark talons (I think? not the pull thing), they apply bleed baseline, stack fast as hell, are spammable and get +20stacks via upgrades so they already synergize with themselves pretty well. On one of my more disgusting runs I got talons, +50bleed stacks and infuse bleed. It seems if you have infuse bleed and a bleed weapon it counts two sets of stacks, in the 5 or so seconds of my candice fight there were 85 and something in the forties as bonus bleed damage at the end.

I'm always looking out for +mana per hit passive every run because it's just too good to pass up. Everything else is trivial once you have that passive and if you pair it with Sacrifix, you're immortal.
i have beaten the entire content thus far, and it was not a good time, those last 2 bosses are built on mega cheese
for me it feels a lil rough playing it atm.
