Lack of permanent upgrades
The lack of permanent upgrades in this game makes it kind of lack luster. I was so excited to get to the control room to upgrade my scythe and then on later runs I realized that the upgrade didn't stay.... what was the point of putting partial sollum into weapons or spells if it doesn't stay there?

Upgrading the shop has the same problem even if you use a prismarum.

Without this you truly are starting all over again and if you have unlocked a bunch of weapons the risk of getting weapons you are bad with increases... there is no way to limit the RNG and say these are the unlocked ones I want to see and not these. Same with food actually. There are some buffs I don't want to see ever again.

Overall the concept is cool I just think there is a lot of room for improvement here. Feels like an Sisyphean task except there are more boulders to roll uphill as you unlock things.

I completely agree, and what's weirder is now having beat the major a total of 8 times ive taken my experience into a new save file and focused on specifically what weapons/spells/food buffs i want, and the RNG for the weapon cairns is A LOT better now that the pool it has the options to choose from is smaller. I enjoy playing the game a lot, but on my first file with everything unlocked, each run feels so chaotic, with trying to narrow in on a build. instead having to work with what you got, it feels so messy. on the new save file I have it just feels so much smoother of a run.

this. so much. To be honest I was so surprised when I realized that perma upgrades are NOT in the game.
Even if it's nothing major (like increasing HP +10 after each region beat) but something like having one upgrade at the home hub before you start your run.
Not only would it make the runs a bit easier but give the sense of overall progression.
Now it's kinda grindy and tedious.
And the upgrades for the shop resetting as well? Dudes, c'mon.

Agreed

I kinda like the skill tree for the scythe but i feel they should make different skill tree for the different weapon archetypes instead of the current system, and let you unlock the base weapons so you can grab them at the start of your run Hades style.
Also prismium is so rare you rarely even get to enjoy the weapon upgrades, and there's no way anyone will ever waste them on the shop, which i think needs to be improved even beyond adding more permanent item slots.
As long as it's not flat stat upgrades i'm fine with some permanent meta progression, could be starting with one anima, upgrading the fridge so it has more than one charge per playthrough, some cloak/spell available at the start, etc.

Honestly I feel the same way I would at least like to see the Scythe upgrades become permanent seeing as they kind of change the way you fight give me the ability to pick one at the beginning of a run would be fun especially if they had a lot more.

An R&D Department that can give you small permanent bonuses like extra health or a random starting cloak weapon would go very far for progression

Chiming in on this to agree - was very excited to get the control room upgrades, then very disappointed when they reset after my death.

I can agree. We need some permanent upgrades/weapons, would be way more fun

Permanent Upgrades would enhance the long term shelf life of this game! Either Weapon Upgrades and Passives would be extremely worthwhile to play the game repeatedly without too much burn out! I would love to see permanent re-spawn points and save points or at least ability to collect old progress after death! I would love to see an improved storyline and a permanent "paths" of passives while you prgress!

Also agree. Having the sense that progress is being made from run to run is what keeps me coming back to a game like this. Permanent upgrades would also help to make the game more accessible without necessarily making it easier, because if someone is struggling for whatever reason (or in my case just is bad at video games), they can aim to get upgrades before trying again.

I have to disagree about the meta-progression and permanant upgrades of the character stats, it makes late-game easier and boring if it's not challenging anymore. The game isn't that hard anyway but maybe they could make an easy mode for those who are struggling.
I also like the weapon upgrades as it is, I just regret that the second weapon get replaced by the umbrella when you unlock it instead of just be added as a second choice.

I agree though that we should have an option to disable the unlocked cloak abilities if we want to, as in Curse of the Dead Gods, even if I personally never do it because I play roguelites for the replayability, having a different run every time and deal with what I find.

Obviously the game need balance and more content like alternative bosses, secret rooms and a better risk/reward system but it has just been released and I'm sure it will be added sooner or later.

Oh I see... Thank you. I guess I would have figured it out with a few more runs but I still think we should have the choice between both.

Honestly. I felt the same way early on, but after getting more unlocks and such, and I guess learning the pattern of enemies and stuff, I win almost every run now. Permanent upgrades would make the game a lot easier, but that could be negated by higher difficulties.

I would say that being able to spend gold ingots on power ups for a run would be a better solution, although it would not really be used until a majority of items is unlocked by the user.

yeah I kinda think the parasol should just be a whole separate base scythe, so in example you could choose to start with the Scythe OR Parasol at the start of the run and then the upgrading process stays the same and no need to 50/50 a chance for parasol to replace Diss, because some people like Diss scythe more because of the range, others like Parasol because the ground attack has I-frames you can use to abuse. so idk maybe im just over simplifying their design concept, but it just would make more sense after having beat the game to use the 1 item for doing it, in a semi sort of permanent way from the start but not change much how the overall upgrading method works throughout the entire run.
