Stuck at trying to remove handle

I got the aged rum and was able to make VD vomit. But it still didn't help me get the toilet handle. I went into the bathroom and tried to take the handle and the attendant still wouldn't let me take it. I can seem to do anything now to proceed! Any help please?

Thanks. Was also stuck there. In hindsight, the clues were there, but it's still pretty dumb.
