Is this strictly for Smash Bros-style platform fighting?

Looks interesting and the tools included appear to be detailed enough, but all of the gameplay videos and screenshots show this off as only a platform fighter. I love fighting games, traditional 2D fighting games, and would be interested in getting this if it can also handle more of a Capcom/SNK style of fighter, but if it's only for platform fighting it's probably not for me as I'm not interested in Smash or any of the other games in the genre that it inspired.

Yes, this is strictly a smash platform fighter only if you basically want to put it like that. But the customization engine is really wide and creative. There's also new mechanics like charging your attacks in the air like a nomral smash attack which makes the game more fun in my opinion. You can probably make a better movelist than some characters have in Smash if you try hard enough. Give the Editor Studio a chance. You might like it more than you think even if your a traditional fighting game player like Street fighter and MVC. I am too.
