Horrific lagging, can't even play
I was excited to try out this early access after my friends hyped it up so much - to not be able to play it at all. The lag is truly the worst, I barely walk with any speed and it took me 10 minutes just to get to the point with the merchant. I lowered quality to low and framerate to 60, and verified the files, but nothing changed I even reinstalled it from D: to C: in case it might have been the drive, but no change.

This is very disappointing. My laptop is not the highest performing, but it can decently run games on Steam and I haven't had these issues before with any other game.

Having the same lagging issues. Other games run fine with high quality and frame rates. Really want to play but am not patient enough to deal with lagging!

Hmm okay a couple of things can help a slow computer to run REKA a little better:

1) Make sure you have the latest drivers for your chipset (like mine is intel) and your graphics card (like nvidia drivers)
2) Close google chrome, Firefox, IE, all internet windows even steam while running REKA, internet browsing uses up a ton of memory, especially google chrome.
3) Set the quality to the lowest setting for Shadow Quality, Volumetric Fog, and Clouds Quality.
4) Make sure you have the demo completely uninstalled. It caused me to constantly crash and stutter. Since removing it and verifying files my game runs smooth.
5) Lastly, keep the same aspect ratio of your resolution but try lowering the resolution and see if that helps.

If this is still stuttering after doing all of the above it may be time to update that laptop >.O but I do hope it helps!

Thanks for providing this helpful list Arlith<3

And we are very sorry to hear about the issues you are having regarding lag. We can assure you we are working very hard behind the scenes to improve the optimisation of REKA. :)

I just hope people are getting the chance to try this game out and hope my fix helps others. (REKA is beyond charming and I cannot wait to see how it gets fleshed out <3)

Same issue here, she is takin one step per second almost... I was initially thinking the fog was a quantity not quality (thanks dyslexia) and pumped it to the max thinking it would give me so real fog like you get in Silent Hill for perfomance. I still think the possiblility of adding fog to hide part of the map could help, maybe.

There is fog to hide the inaccessible part of the fog, or at least it shows up in my game. What settings are you using? Because mine not only has fog but it also starts to get a little darker and harder to see,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you talking about the end of the map fog ? I believe the quality means it looks better, so I put it to the lowest setting to hopefully make my computer hate me less.
Innitially I was referencing adding a different fog on the map to maybe make only a 10 to 20 meters radius around Reka show to help with the performance (like in Silent hills when you only had a few meters around you so the game wouldn't crash)

Update - after leaving it alone a few months in the hopes of a future patch that would fix the lag, I decided this month to update the game and give it another try.

It won't even load past the main menu now. Welp!

I hope the developers made good use of the £14 I used to pay for this game, because all I ever got in return was frustration and disappointment, and swearing off Early Access games from now on.

I wonder what's so different about my setup as it runs pretty flawless on my system. What are your specs? All of your drivers up to date?

you lag my computer bricks, i think ive totally giving up trying to play, i saw there was updates so had to come try playing again, but had to force my computer to restart to fix my computer after a odd bug that locked me in a odd menu that i couldn't get out of, found the admin menu though maybe teleport to the town would fix it, nope then it wouldn't let me type or do anything once the game crashed, so that is why i had to force restart my computer.

What games do you play? There are many games on steam you can play with a potato

Still don't see anyone offering up their specs, like... either you want help or you just want to complain /shrug
