The Lost Son side quest - can't place black salt into the hearth

So- I got the quest, asked baba yaga about black salt and made some. The quest says I need to cast it into the oven in front of the old babushka but she's sitting at a fireplace (guessing fireplace and oven are the same in this context also there is no oven in her home). No option to place it into the fireplace and talking to her again just gives a simple 'haven't seen you around here before' dialogue option. Is there something Im missing or is my quest bugged?

I have come across this quest twice, both times the NPC's dialogue sorta skips at the end and nothing happens. Probably a broken quest.

I figured it out! I had to stand in the door way of the room she was sitting in-- looked down at the floor, and FINALLY got the option to throw the salt. So, not at the fireplace but in the door way area. It might be that the 'hit box' we need to find to activate the action isn't where it's supposed to be? Try this next time you get the quest it might work for you too :)

I'm trying this right now and sadly i'm not getting any option to place the salt :( Will come back and try again later...

Edit: It worked! The problem was, I had not talked to Baba Yaga about black salt. I'd already done another black salt quest (the one to protect the house), and thought the conversation was just a "helpful tip" on how to make it, but apparently it is required. So once you talk to her about it you should get the option (in the doorway as OP said) to place the salt.
