Dude I just corrected your statement that was completely false, you're the one who went full reddit tier and are acting like I insulted you for the statement and started yelling at you.

And with the needing evidence to back my claim, thats why I said its likely better to move this to a DM or something because this isnt the place for that kind of debate.

Greedfall, The Witcher, STALKER, Hitman, most of the DOOM games, most the Assassins Creed games, the first GTA games... about 80% of the games on steam are male protagonist or male-only player character. There are fewer than 5% of games that exist with a female-only player character.

Kinda mean to be saying that, like even as a dude I enjoy games like this to relax, even ones that are multiplayer you literally can just relax with friends or an SO.

What the hell are you going on about? Greedfall not only has a designer but you can choose your gender, and the others in that list dont even have a character designer, the guys point was that when a game has a character designer they normally have gender options as well, its very rare to have a game with a designer without that option.

Yes Reka is intentionally female, Reka is a predetermined protagonist with a customisation option. its not a character creator, its a character customiser. The history of Witches and witchcraft are deeply rooted in the old tradition of medicine women/wise women who would help village folk with ailments, illness and childbirth, so it makes sense that Reka is a female. Men were not connected to this practice or culture very often, save for perhaps some druidic mythology (think Merlin as an example- but that isn't from the same culture as BabaYaga). Within witchcraft- there is a lot of emphasis on the feminine, represented by the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. Ultimately, the customisation is just for aesthetics, not for 'creating' your own character.

God, you people are pathetic. Did you complain about Aloy? Lara Croft? Samus? If you can't play a game because the protagonist is female, you've got serious issues. The legend of Baba Yaga, no matter which locale's version of the tale you go by, states that she only trains girls. On top of that, Baba Yaga legends go by the "traditional" meaning of witch, which is specific to women. As someone that is 110% a man and went through a very serious witchcraft phase, nothing about this game offends me or causes me to not want to play it. I'm actually rather excited to play it, but have to wait for finances to happen before I purchase it. My wife wants a copy, too.
