Gothic CHEST key - use in church where ?

The game is stagnant right now at 49%. My hint from the Soul Crystal says "The gothic key under the lighthouse can be used in the church". But that key says it is a "Gothic Chest Key". I don't see anywhere to use that. The hint says chest, (so not door). There is one area in there blocked by a snake... I've talked to everyone; nothing advances anymore.

Head to the Church and enter through the lower left door, head one screen East into the room with the table at the bottomwith two candles on it a plate and a book.

Grab the Cursed Shovel if you haven't already, Use the Gothic Key on the door in upper right.

Maybe it is a bug then; I went through that door a long time ago. So I'm completely stuck now, no progress possible unless I'm missing something. Have checked every zone multiple times. Talked to all NPC's. Satphone call says Diana is busy (out in woods). Vlad has not shown up in Library to pick up another box yet. Kaley, Alia, Naomi (& Tasha) are in bar with nothing new to say.

The Gothic Chest Key is used on the Chest that sits in the middle of the altar in the room at the top right of the same screen that Madalyn's bedroom is on. The screen before the one I told you to go to.

So enter the church via the door at bottom left, then go to the door at the top right of that first screen inside.

OK so that is a chest in there; I could not see it because it just looks like a dark rectangle. I ignored it thinking that it was a table surface or something. So it was something that I missed after all. Thanks for the help. After the resulting scenes played out, Diana finally called on the satphone. So perhaps things are moving again.

Yeah, it is quite a dark scene alright.
It is one of those games that you should always click on things regardless.

Delighted you got sorted and are back on track to finishing the game!

I cant enter the door at the top right, it is a big?

Frequently you will find areas you cannot access and things you can see, but not reach. If you're stuck use the Soul Crystal for a hint.

If that doesn't work for you, the best help I can give you is to point you to my guide. Use the in game phone and find the last scene that you unlocked. The use CTRL+F and search for that scene. What you're looking for should be after that.
