No Kayak Exam

I went into Squalmart after I had the discussion with the Ranger for the Kayak Exam and the option to purchase is not there. Did I not do something or miss something. Read a walkthrough and believe I did everything leading up to it. Any help would be appreciated

I believe you need to talk to Emily and ask her if the store sells permits before the exam becomes avalible for purchase.

Thanks, unfortunately all Emily is saying is that she needs someone to help her in the store and that she is hiring. I got outside the store and talk to the ranger about the permit but it doesn't trigger anything.

Then maybe it's time to find Emily some help for the store. What does the crystal/Evey suggest you do next?

I'm afraid something is messed up in your game, and it may not be possible to repair it.
After you talk to Michael, you go into squalmart and ask Emily for the license exam. It will appar in the shop so you can fill it in. Then do the practical test, take the boat north of the river and find the maca plant there.
AFTER you come back with the maca plant, Emely realizes she's got the right formula now and also that she needs someone to keep the store open while she works on the potion.

So if she already talks about help in the shop even before you went northj to get the maca, that indicates to me that the state of the game has been corrupted.
So don't take this wrong, but did you by chance use any mods or cheats to add things to your inventory that you should not have been able to obtain yet ? (like a maca plant)

If not then somehow the state of the game seems to be corrupted. You've not crossed the river yet, but the game state seems to think that Emily already obtained the maca from the other side of the river and needs help in the shop to work on the potion. Maybe you should go back to an earlier save and pick up from there.

did you use the cheating mod or save editor to get items you are not suppose to have at the point of kayaking exam? maybe maca plant? are you seeing two Emilys in store. if you did, than Emily's story might be advanced further than it suppose to be. all you can do is load an earlier file. i would suggest only use cheating mod for money, nothing else. the game will offer you everything you need.

solution to fixing this error is,
1) Load a save from before you give the maca plant, Emily,
2) Use a save editor to change your total maca plants to 0,
3) Load your new save, if you were saved in the Store leave and re-enter.
