Supposed to lose?
So I just lost, after two IRL days of planning and figuring things out I just lost. I got the key and thought I had found a way out in the sewers/operating room yet I didn't. Did I take too long to do certain things? I feel like my skills got in the way because I chose the first journalist option.

Also does starting NG+ keep the skill checks of the game the same but you become more powerful?
Argus Apr 8 @ 6:40pm
Yeah, I think you should have done more exploring or at least met as many inmates as you could if you had the charisma option. NG+ also just retains friendship levels you've had with someone and keeps any skills you've learned too.

So what do you think I should do then? Because like, I explored all of the sewers and still couldn't find a way out.

Keep exploring more, the sewers are pretty long and even then, that's only just one step to find the other escape routes since you'll need to do things during the day too. Immediately working at unscrewing the toilet on your first days is pretty important as well as finding the tools needed.

Bonding with other inmates is also important, you can Look (by right-clicking on them) to see which skills are worth going for and some are really strong

Oh I played it safe for the first few days, even was super rich on some days. If I went too fast I would just kinda...lose anyway because body and mind were too low via starvation I think.

I made the bridge in the sewers and explored the two areas that unlocks fully. I couldn't jump the roof because my agility was just too low. Do you think I could "win" on NG+ or do you think I should just play Bob's story? Cuz honestly he seems really cool.
(love your pfp btw)

Oh yeah, you could definitely win on NG+. As long as you keep exploring and stuff. I recommend raising your reputation through the barber's quests so you can befriend the lieutenants since they have some great skills. Pickpocketing is also super broken once you bond with a certain character.

If you're worried about body and mind, the vending machine and Billy have plenty and always try to beg your tablemates at the dining hall. Low body always lets you see the doctor which can also help raise your relationship and I found it hard to get my mind to lower but making/buying/stealing cigarettes and alcohol help raise it back up after you finish the main questline.

I really enjoyed Thomas's story tbh, especially when going for all the routes.

(And thanks haha)

Tbh I was always focused on furthering a "goal" instead of hugely exploring. Like where tf does that heavy key you get from the operating room go? Secondly despite me going the charismatic route in games like this I always treat social interaction as something to do much later. Even in stardew where you don't have a charisma stat I did the same exact thing. Should I select the same journalist for NG+ or can I pick something else and still reap the benefits of the one I chose in my first playthrough?

The thing is I would always starve because I was broke. That's how I lost so much B/M. I think the doctor is cute but like, I dunno about leaving prison with a girl you got from there meanwhile you have a girl on the outside who did love you.

I like it too, after losing though and seeing the intro for Bob's story I am curious to try it out. Is it finished yet?

Oh I get that haha, I found out there's an inmate that basically makes lockpicking way easier and I haven't really looked through a lot of keys. For the operating room key It's for the metal door in the infirmary, it just lets you get a bunch of alcohol and medicine. Btw, you should def remember the pizza number when you're in the mailroom, that's prolly your best way of getting food and it's very useful if you're gonna pick a fight with someone.

For the trait choice, those are completely unique and you can't get the benefits from them. I usually go for undercover journalist in later playthroughs since low odds isn't much of a problem by then but I started off with the charisma one on my first playthroughs

Also something to know early on is that you need to use drugs and other foods to raise your stats temporarily so sometimes you just need to save it for when you need it the most, especially for Strength or that one area you couldn't get to with agility.

Bob's route is still in development, tho I've been seeing more news showing more of the spritework and animation so hopefully it'll come out in summer or at least this year haha

Oh. Well then that key seems rather...bad. The thing is I don't have a memory of all the stuff that increases my stats. I assume in NG+ items aren't transferred over?
No the sewers took a long while for me (i spammed the memory recall)

i need to use the guide to actually know what was happening

Is there no "click to highlight everything you can interact with" button?

Yeah, no items transfer over in NG+, only your rapport with other inmates and any skills you learned.
I really don't want to spoil the events but I will try as much as possible not to. There are 3 exits to escape from the prison through the sewer,
one /at the clinic
the second /through one of the pipes, but you may need to work in the staff room to discover the second exit
and the third /through the barbershop.
You will ask me ( How do you get to it? ) I don't want to go into more detail so as not to spoil the events.
I hope I didn't mess this up now I was hesitant whether to comment here hoping I didn't spoil anything

THERE ARE OTHER ESCAPE ROUTES?!
Argus Apr 17 @ 5:29pm
Yep lol, they take a while to reach so it's one of your main quests to work through alongside the main storyline.
