how to beat osman
As the title says i need some tips on how to beat osman. I can easlily get to him but never beat him i get that i gotta count his movement but i always seem to slip up eventually and just get a partywipe. Cant just dps rush him as i found out he has a second phase aswell :). I get that this sounds like alot of whining but ive basically steamrolled everything up to him three times in an row now with no problems but i just cannot do anything about him.

DPS rush is the way to go, just be careful not to lose party members. Nowak is usually gonna be priority to get hit by mortal horizon, and after that, you will hopefully already be on phase 2, where you just gotta crack down one of his halves. Then it just becomes phase 1 but weaker, which is very easy to manage

To elaborate a little more on the DPS rush idea, I typically run 5 party members at all times and the most common strategy I use involves inflicting frail and following up with an attack that deals over 10 damage by default. Almost any method of inflicting Frail will do, but some fun examples include Accidental Malpractice with Hans and The First Born item. As for the high damage attack, examples include fully upgraded versions of the following: Longliver's Gently Eviscerate, either of Bimini's two damaging attacks, Leviat's Discipline the Insolent, Pearl's Hungry Jaws, and Griffin's Showdown Time when Spotlight triggers. The second phase is more complicated, as multi-targeting moves become far more ideal. Fully upgraded versions of Bimini's Let Them Expire and Griffin's Disciplined Clobber (after being spotlighted in the first phase) are what I consider the gold standard for moves that ensure quick second phase kills. Lastly, if you have bad luck with Spotlight triggering during your first turn then you can immediately quit to the menu, continue your run, and you'll restart your run before the boss begins. Just be sure to do this before your turn ends, as any damage taken will be saved even when restarting the battle (likely an intended consequence for this luxury).

Personally I think it depends on your approach! People before me have already given some tips on DPS rush strategies, although I'd like to suggest a slower, and more careful approach.

The general rule is that if you're going for no casualties, it's best to optimize your team to only have no more than 3 members, as you want to leave some spaces free for Mortal Horizon to miss. When it comes to items, I generally pick the ones which allow me to survive the most while accounting for mistakes, but it also depends on my composition - so mostly hp ups, healing items (granted you're lucky with not getting cursed) or pigment control related stuff.

As for the team, I usually go with Nowak (guaranteed purple pigment control + decent damage) and some dps + utility/support. For the former, it's preferable that you get someone who can attack left and right like Boyle, Pearl, Griffin or Dimitri, so that in some situations you can attack and relocate the entire party to minimize or completely negate damage with absolute ease. And for support/utility, it's whatever you prefer! Rags' scars make dealing damage easier, not to mention her linking in the second phase. Fennec's and Smoke Stack's shield should effectively help with controling pigment and surviving longer. If you can keep him from getting hit, Cranes might be extremely useful with curse removal, but again, he's very hard to keep alive in this fight. Agon is particularly powerful due to his resurrecting ability and raw tanking capabilities.

There's probably more to be said but I hope you get the general idea - if you can't keep up with dealing damage fast enough before your party gets broken down, try to explore each and every alternative for defensive play!

PS - every status effect gets removed when you enter the second phase, so you can take advantage of that and heal your previously cursed party members if that's a possibility, since they'll very likely to become cursed again soon

What i do is usually sacrifice Nowak or another useless party member to the instant kill. Try and bring him down as low as you can and then kill his first phase when you have as many of your characters still able to move and attack. Most of the time if you do this you can kill one of the two Osmans in the second phase before they get a turn. Any character that can do damage to the left or right of them are very useful here.

Clive A is very good if you can refresh his movement because he can lock osman to a space and recover health if needed.

Peg Leg, Skate, Anton and Gospel all guarantee safe Osman kills with Clive A.
