Why is this game still broken after all this time?
Seriously, the game is still borked? How? When will they fix performance issues, gameplay glitches and other problems? Never?

You still have to tweak Input.ini to use Raw Mouse Input on a FPS game, and we're in 2025. How is this even remotely acceptable? I don't know if you have noticed, but the Unreal Engine editor has a setting you just tick with left mouse click that lets you enable mouse raw input, you don't have to code it. A lot of devs apparently can't do that so we're forced to manually open Input.ini and enable raw input. Go figure.

I set my FOV to 110 in the menu. I'd expect my FOV to be 110 now. Well, I have over 20 years of experience playing fps games and yeah, that's definitely not 110 FOV at all. How did this even pass quality tests and what does the fov number mean to the devs?

Today I decided to continue with the game and, after having to tamper with the Input.ini file (of course), I played through for a while and reached the Grand Canyon Facility. After entering a vent (apparently), somehow, I borked the entire level logic. Even restarting the game still doesn't fix it, so I'm basically soft-locked and I (probably) have to start the entire game over. Great! I also soft-locked myself before reaching this section by getting somehow stuck between two objects after jumping, luckily I just had to reset to last checkpoint.

Performance? FPS still drops after all this time, even below 90 fps under extremely heavy fights on a beast of a system. No performance patches at all after all this time? Sometimes, the game input lags even at 130-ish fps which is unacceptable. I started the game with the -dx12 option which helped a lot with mouse delay at low framerate, unfortunately the game just compiles shaders on the fly when using D3D12, which means a lot of stuttering will happen.

To provide more context, I'm running this game on a i7-14700K, a 4070 SUPER and 32 GB of 8000 MHz DDR5 memory, and the game is on a NVMe SSD. I can literally max recent games out with much much better graphics and much much more entities on screen and get a much better experience.

Even Serious Sam 4 is capable of getting much higher framerate, maxed out, and with many many more entities on screen. This just shows how this game's CPU bound coding is really really bad.

Maybe the devs are uncapable of fixing these issues so they just gave up? Or maybe they just stopped caring.

After managing to get through the borked section by loading a much earlier save, I reached another area in which the game logic borked itself again. Why is nobody talking about this particular problem? Is it because I run the game at unlocked framerate?

This game is pure garbage even before considering any technical problems.
I abandoned all hope for this game once it released.
They stopped caring and had no money to patch, look at graven and kingpin reloaded the devs are known to do this.

Is there a source about them not having enough money to patch?

Short of asking them on discord, you can only patch something if you have the funds to do so. Phantom fury didn’t sell well, if it did maybe more updates would come. But it’s almost a year since release and not a peep regarding patches. They’re focused on pushing out tempest rising.

A game that released completely buggy and almost unplayable didn't sell well? That doesn't seem to be surprising to me, and I guess I won't buy their next game, that is for sure.
Yup, short of projects like cultic which slipgate didn't develop. Most game's slipgate makes(meaning they originally started, not taking over) tends to be unfinished, worst being kingpin reloaded along with graven. Currently they are releasing tempest rising in April an RTS I can only imagine how that'll end up.

I see your Graven and Kingpin, and raise you Bombshell. Closing in on a decade waiting for the big patch they promised us on that one...

True, but that ip didn’t blow up until ion fury a game not even made by slipgate. Given how much effort voidpoint put into it you’d think they’d do a better job. Now we wait for the next botched project tempest rising.

That's a fair point. Still, it's kind of nuts that they've been doing this for almost 10 years, and have managed to stay in business. Well, sort of. Interceptor went bust, but they were right back at it with a different name after that. I wish someone who had the backing to put out solid games would buy the Bombshell IP from them, or whoever their parent company is.

At the rate slipgate's been probably not to long. Sure 3drealms has some games they are publishing but not major sellers.
Hey, I wanted to make sure that at least someone knows that the actual devs that were on this project wanted to make the game run immaculately, wanted to make it worth peoples time and money, and wanted to fix the myriad of issues the game has. Unfortunately towards the end of development, the axe came down and the entire team that worked on this game got laid off. There was time allocated for 2 small patches after launch and that was it. Future patches will more than likely never happen.

That may well be, and probably is, given the state of their parent company. However, there's always some extenuating circumstance with 3D Realms/Interceptor/Slipgate, for almost ten years now. People see that and don't have faith in their products anymore.

Good. I'm not defending the company. The developers were laid off.
