Not selling a single-player retro shooter on gog.com is certainly one of the stupidest decisions a developer can make. Sorry, I don't understand that and as a long-time fan I'm very disappointed. That's why I won't buy it on Steam. Incidentally, 3dRealms had disappointed Duke fans with the scandal of the sequel and now also Shelly fans??
If GOG has already published a page about the game, there must have been an agreement with the developer, which the developer is now not honoring. I also just saw that KingPin Reloaded has been on Steam since December last year and I'm stupid waiting for the GOG release. I also find the argument about the low sales figures for Wrath and Graven on gog to be dubious, considering how long these games were in Early Access. This means that I no longer have any trust in Slipgate Ironworks™
As someone who buys games on both Steam AND GOG, this is a major disappointment. For games like this, I would tend towards getting it on GOG first and foremost and get a Steam version down the line if I like the game enough. Or if it releases on Steam first, the other way around.
It certainly feels, from the outside of things, that this is a sign that there isn't a lot of confidence in this game from those higher up, and is concerning.
I guess this won't be getting backed up with my Ion Fury and Bombshell installers...
Slipgate came around long after DNF had been released in 2011.
Bombhsell was released long after the Duke lawsuit.
All Kingpin related stuff is Interplay, as they own the IP.
GOG requires a specific build for their offline installers, and they take extra time to update them.
GOG put up a placeholder page for the game, like they do with everyone else.
If the game is not released on their store, the page is removed.
I hope the publishers hold them to their contract and this decision gets reversed
"currently doesn't have any DRM" means you are perfectly aware Valve or Pubs have the ability to re-write the rules post purchase
Greetings from Germany,
Raff
As much as I have a personal dislike to Valve, my main reason is practical.
I buy games for my family, they are a shared resource. We have hundreds of switch, xbox and play station games that me, wife and kids can dip into and play. If 1 of the 50 Switch games is being played the other 49 are still available to be played.
GOG is the only platform that give me that freedom.
Yes I know haver 10 years Valve FINALLY fixed Family sharing to allow that, but its 10 years too late. If SFS had allowed per game sharing, like the thousands of Beta testers asked for, back at original release... I'd have 1000+ steam games buy now.
But they didn't, so I stopped using steam and have 1200+ GOG games instead.
