Hadn't it been better to hold the reviews back until after release?

I mean ... the ones that are out by the time of this post say that this game is unfinished, annoying, bland, buggy, uninspiried ... and for me it went from "buy tomorrow at launch (and maybe refund if it isn't good)" to "OK, getting it after many patches at an 80% discount".

Given the demo was a few months ago I would want to see a few live streams before I make my purchase decision. Unfortunately my outlook is filled with scepticism because someone said "you played wrath aeon of ruine. you played graven and you played the demo".

I think ppl who liked the demo is gonna get it day 1. I think ppl who didnt are waiting to see if the issues are fixed.

TC, the only valid reason to hold the reviews back until after the release is if the issues the reviews complain about will be fixed by the release date.

Better question would be "Wouldn't it have been better to hold the release until the game is good?" I haven't watched any reviews myself yet, but from just the titles, the few extra months they gave it after the demo backlash wasn't nearly enough.

Would holding it back made any difference. The flags were already there before the games release, people wanted to give slipgate a chance but they’ve shown time and again they undelivered. Now just grab some popcorn next few weeks should be entertaining.

Which reviews? Metacritic has two - one is 8/10 and the second is 9/10. Quite good for „ unfinished, annoying, bland, buggy, uninspiried”.

The YouTube once, you should check them for a more balanced view. Not sure how metacritic is ever taken seriously.

There is a bunch of video reviews out now. None of them super positive.

The only consistent positive game looks nice. Only real consistency with releases.

Completed the game on hard. It's middling at best and buggier than Kingpin: Reloaded at worst. The game even locked me out of tier 3 upgrades halfway through the game.

So, youtubers should be taken seriously? From the four posted below, I only know one of them. Tbh, i’m buying this tomorrow regardless the reviews.

Considering they got codes from the devs themselves why shouldn’t that. Thing is you should read or listen and look for consistency’s between them. Also if that’s the case why bother posting or care about what they think?

A review mentioned a boss just glitching forcing a restart. If they mentioned some sort of day 1 patch, then I need to ask why give review codes?

There are plenty of them. Bugged achievements, wonky physics, missing mission triggers, upgrades disappearing and even completely locking you out of the upgrade system.

It's not about whether or not you "should listen to them". Just listen to what they're saying, gather the facts from their reviews, and make your own decision.
I'm steering clear of this game, but if you're even somewhat interested even after hearing negative reviews then it means you should play it for yourself.
You're not supposed to act as a parrot for them, just use them for information.
