Does the game need more patches before I start it?
Wondering if the first patch fixed the majority of the major technical issues or if it still needs a couple of more before I start it. I know its had a mixed reception and all mainly for the gameplay, but I still think it looks fun and don't want any hate on the game itself, just opinions on how buggy the game still is.

Thanks in advance

yes

I finished the game yesterday and the only serious bug I encountered was near the end of the game where I lost all my upgrades (except weapons) after dying.

A developer has said he believes his team have found a fix for this, so this should be fixed when Phantom Fury gets another patch.

I finished the game recently (after the first patch) and I did encounter some smaller bugs, but nothing gamebreaking. More like bad NPC pathfinding, some visual glitches etc. So it's buggy, yes, but not terminally buggy anymore, I'd say.

There are two bugs which you should be aware of, however:

1. Already unlocked weapon modifications sometimes disappear, but you can get them back by using the mod menu (press 'M'). It's an annoying bug, but you can fix it with the mod menu.

2. People have reported that there's an upgrade kiosk in the Chicago sewers towards the end of the game which will make you lose all of your upgrades. I believe this is the bug that Troshnak referred to. Until there's a fix, just don't interact with this specific upgrade kiosk.

I encountered a lot of them, but I haven't seen a bug yet that cannot be fixed or overcome, so you are moderately safe.

I'd wait a bit

The first patch fixed a lot, but one level in particular, the 15th, is still extremely buggy. It's the one with the softlocking upgrade station like mentionned above, but it also has issues regarding broken checkpoints. Basically, you have to complete that level in one sitting, without dying, or else you'll be reloaded around the start of the level with stuff missing. If this happen you have to reload the autosaved file of the very start of this level and try again from there.

So if I were you I'd wait for the second patch to see if they fix those ones (the devs said they were aware of it), or if you have nothing better to do you could try playing it anyway since you're aware of the worst problem and its workaround now.

Hello! If you're experiencing technical issues or think you’ve found a bug, please, reach out to our team via the dedicated support website: https://support.saber.games/; in your ticket, attach video clips, screenshots, and a detailed description of the matter.
A little buggy, yes, but you can still enjoy for what it is, they are not game breaking but takes you out the immersion sometimes.

The game works fine up to the chicago levels that are clearly not finished; No music, risk of losing upgrades, cutscenes without sound. Trying to explore the city leads to dead ends/unfinished areas and sequence breaks.

All in all; i'd say wait a bit.

(this isn't EA and we're not beta testers: we're paying customers dammit)

Thanks to everyone (minus Rico) for the advice, I'll wait for at least one more patch before playing. I've got plenty of other games I can finish in the meantime :)
