So many of these remasters from nightdive that i remember the same way as you - where i played it but never really understood it. Shadowman is a good example for me.
Coming back to them now that i'm way more used to video games and now that i'm older and they definitely seem to make way more sense in terms of what to do and where to go.
Totally agree regarding Shadowman. I had it on N64 as a preteen and even though I thought it was cool as ♥♥♥♥, I found it difficult to finish because of simply not knowing where to go. I enjoyed the remaster a lot.
Same. Had it on N64. Loved the art and thought it was really creepy but had zero concept of what a metroidvania was and thought the game was broken because i couldn't progress.
I never played this back in the day and maaaan this game is wild! Insane in a good way.
The PC version, on the other hand gives you the entire Island to explore, along with the mansion. What’s more it’s laid out in a fashion that makes ****ing logical sense. The maps are designed to resemble the things they are suppose to represent… unlike the 3DO’s Random labyrinthine mazes that resemble ANYTHING but a mansion & its rooms.
Yes, in the PC Version, the mansion itself is smaller. However the overall size and variety of the game, in the PC version, is much larger. What’s more the map/level design is orders of magnitude better! Overall, the PC version is just a much better designed & more polished game.
PS I also kinda prefer the PC version’s prerendered & pixel art sprites to the 3DO’s digitized actor sprites. That though, is my own personal preference. Nothing more.
I will not stand this slander against Dragon Tycoon Edge and Neo Organic Bioform!
