Hunting and fishing
Is there a way to not overfish/hunt without constantly checking the census and manually changing the activities?

I don't think we have something like that in the game. Overhunting/-fishing should not become a huge problem because the hunter only hunts in the vicinity of the Hunter's Lodge. So the animals are "safe" on the rest of the map. If you notice big changes or a species even goes extinct, it will usually immigrate from another map after a while if the living conditions are good.

Are you thinking of a "hunt over"/"hunt until" mechanic, similar to the one at the Marketplace? I think that could be interesting, as long as players don't get forced into micromanagement :)

Second this:
though "hunt until" would have to consider the "map-wide" population, not just what is in the circle. If this would be possible, it would be nice to have more lines of activities, so you can set up a hunt-priority for EVERY animal.

By the way, if you want the game to be less micro-managy, this would be useful. As it is now, I mostly set my priority and leave it for 10 years, before finding my populations all at out whack and slightly frustrated about it. Checking the populations regularly is somewhat annoying, especially since there are several facts, like who-eats-who and the environment.

My current examples is a lake that I fed for a while so that there is lots of trout. I then started to fish there as well and it didn't take long until the lake was completely empty. Now I can't repopulate it. I get that I can use a different lake but I thought it would be really cool if we had a way to keep the population "healthy". For game it's a bit different because they can move everywhere on the map.

Maybe a simple "Don't hunt if population below replacement". Or a warning that deer are about to go extinct.

I can certainly add more lines to the hunter if that helps
It is usually very hard to get something to extinction with one hunter, but I'll see if I can add something. The fishery already checks if the fish is big enough to be catched (like the rules we have in real life for fishing) but may be I need to adjust it a bit.
Thanks for the feedback!

I'm trying to feed 150 people so it seems quite easy to overhunt. But if I think about it I think a warning system would be sufficient. "Fisherman Pete has a harder and harder time catching fish" / "Your hunter says the deer population is getting dangerously low".

But overall I like the game a lot, so good job!
