Very unstable

Very unstable, not sure why but it crashes every couple of minutes. I'm having to quick save every 30 minutes to make a progress. Compatibility mode didn't help. Any ideas appreciated, thanks.

Actually, to be precise, it just freezes for the split of the second and then game closes itself.

Yesterday I reinstalled the game to play again and I'm having the same problem. I've barely got 5 minutes into it. I've played the game through many times so I just uninstalled it. I might try again another time if I'm bored.

I think that the solution is to gradually decrease quality settings. Despite having a superb rig I had to go down with the settings to reduce frequency of crashes to about every 12 minutes. Also it is going to sound weird but it often crashes during explosions in the game...

Initially I have tried all settings on maximum in 4K. But having AMD Ryzen the problem might be with Crysis pushing all workload to only one CPU core?

I don't know for sure, but having read multiple people having problems with various games on Steam community it seems that Ryzen CPUs have a lot of problems particularly with older games

CryEngine 2 is a single threaded engine, ie. it only runs on a single core regardless of what CPU you have, so I doubt that is the issue, or if it is it's an issue unique to Ryzen CPUs

I'm playing old games often as I'd like to finish many old but very well received games and this one was exceptionally unstable. I have finished it but it was a struggle. I probably spent 3x time on the single player campaign.

Have you heard Proton ?
Many games runs better today with Linux, thanks to Valves strong support to that platform.
Proton allows running Win only games on Linux just like those would run on Windows itself.

Make a dualboot system and see how much better things are working on a open platform.

I am experiencing the same instability issues. In my case I am playing on the same old Intel system that ran the game fine years ago.
Also completed a playthrough of Crysis with no stability issues after which I installed Crysis Warhead.

I will be looking into a way to run the 32bit version of Warhead
