Black Screen. Game breaking bug

In second drop, after you pick up the picture on the desk, it goes to what I presume is a cut scene. Aaaaaaand stops.

It says 'Hisoka' in subtitles at the bottom of the screen, and the rest is black. Sound still works, though controls don't, and the only way out is to alt+f4. This doesn't actually close the game, though, because I then have to open task manager and actually close the process.

I tried changing the resolution, and the window settings, and it's still the same. Unplayable from that point on, unfortunately.

I just cleared the second drop without having any issues at all, used maxed settings on 1080p and lock to 60fps. i dont know why you guys having black screen, probably hardware compatibility issue? have you guys try to update graphic driver?

tbh Im kinda scared and want to refund, who knows that could happens to me after my 2 hours mark progress ingame.

Graphics driver updated. Everything is up to date. Verified installation integrity as suggested above and still getting the stop. I've tried reducing the graphics settings as well to see if that helps. Dropped it to 720p with normal settings. Disabled the steam overlay. I'm out of options at this point I think.

I'm going to uninstall and reinstall next. If that doesn't work I'll wait a couple of days for a fix and then request a refund.

My specs are decent too, so I should be able to play this at max with no issues.

OS: Win 10 Pro
CPU: i7-6700k
RAM: 64GB DDR4 2400mhz
GPU: GTX 1080

I have a Ryzen 2700X with 32gb ram and a 3080. Everything is up to date. I shouldn't be facing any issues.

Initially I was limited to 1366x768 but a restart fixed that. The black screen is impassable, though.

I'm at about 80 minutes and I'm not planning on playing any more until it's fixed. Might just refund and get the disc for PlayStation. This port is really not suitable for release.

Did you turn on any fps counter while playing? if yes try to close all programs related to it (such as rivatuner), i rememmber playing Alone in the dark the new nightmare always crash up on start while using rivatuner, i fixed it by closing the program.

I don't run anything like that. I'm not terribly concerned with fps. I even limited my monitor to 60hz to help. I shut down everything extra. And it's always the exact same cutscene. The one right after you pick up the photo in the room of the shop. I'm not going to try anything else. I'm at 95 minutes because of everything I've tried and if they don't fix it soon I want to be able to refund it.

yea i guess thats probably a good call. As much as i like the franchise and never actually play it on wii u, I'll wait and see for a few days too if things stay same probably just refund it and buy it again for discounted price (dont really care about the pre order bonus items) since it just doesnt justified the full price with all these ingame issues not to mention an old game. Better save my money for GoW.

Also im planning on getting monster rancher 1&2 DX, just hoping it wont be the same fate as this one.

Had the same problem and I'm currently sitting at 119 minutes of playtime. I restarted the First Drop a couple of times to get all of the ghost pics, other time spent looking at the artbooks. I'm afraid to run the game anymore and void a refund. I don't want to refund it because I've been really looking forward to the game for months. I guess I'll wait a week or so and see if they fix it. Really a shame at how KT has treated this port.

The fix that worked for me is watch all the cut scenes all the way through. Don't skip them.

So the game just completely breaks when you skip a CS?? That's a huge problem, so I hope KT fixes it.
