[Spoiler] Trials of Remission?

I did the sewer side quest about finding evidence of cult infiltration. At the end, the guy said to meet him at the backstage garden gate that is now open, but also talk to Bion. The gate is NOT open, and Bion has no dialog about evidence. I was kinda hoping that the suggestion that more evidence getting more people on the Lady's side meant that the Trials would be made easier. Is this story broken?

Iirc you need to finish the Trial before the gates opens

I finished the trial all the way to Trinity Night, but the gates in the back of Pegasus Garden are still locked.

It does not open after starting Trinity Night, do you have a save before talking with Minerva about it?
