but it's way more accessible, since attacking doesn't need Stamina, the Weapons are mostly faster, Magic based Attack while lower in variaty don't have charges, and the Base 'Casts' while a bit slower than eg Daggers, doesn't need Mana/Stamina either), the actual Skills are devastating, and can be easily recharged with Base Attacks (Melee and Ranged).
So yeah it's kinda Souls, but your Character comes from God of War or 'new' Assassins Creed.
"Souls-like" adjective, a game that has a healing mechanic, respawn points, and combat more advanced than skyrim. Browny points if you can only save at a respawn point, and doing so respawns enemies, but that isn't required.

Steam does have a souls-like tag but i agree that it is a pointless term, because so many of those games are just nothing like dark souls. It mostly feels like its used as a way to describe a game that isn't easy enough for you to beat in your sleep. I don't see how nier or monster hunter is anything like a souls game, but hey, people keep giving those games the souls like tag... Even 2D platformers have the tag, like hollow knight.
For what it is worth, the game does share some mechanics with bloodborne which is in the souls-borne list so... That's probably why this game has the souls-like tag
It is a genre simply because way too many people make dark souls clones or games that borrow many aspects from it. Might not have a clear definition since everyone uses a different amount of things from it but it definitely exists.
This game also borrowed a lot from dark souls/bloodborne which deserves the soulslike tag imo.
Many games have multiple genres nowadays. A single genre often doesn't describe the entire game or all of it's mechanics. It can contain the soulslike tag while still having others as well.
In the end the main genre of these games (including dark souls) is ARPG. No need to get butthurt when seeing the soulslike tag that lets people know the game has elements from it.
And something funny, the RPG tag itself is very overused and some would say even misused often. And it also doesn't have a complete definition. Some say you only need classes and levels to have it, some say you need story choices etc. At this point it's the same as ''soulslike'' and only used to show that games have rpg elements.
While I agree about the sentiment that "souls-like" is stupid, the name of something isn't always attributed to the first. Look at how many games in the indiesphere right now are being compared to Vampire Survivors, a game that...just left early access. It's a classic arcade style that's existed for ~40 years, but now we're naming it after a game that released last week.
