Not that I personally have a problem with it. I love the series. It's just amusing how things work out...
A greatest hits game only value is if you don't have the original to play ie you sold it or don't wanna boot up an old ps2 just to play. Or the other value is updated graphics. Neither of which can be of value here.

Yes Katamari Forever may have been a tribute game, but it still has it's own original levels as well, it's not entirely pointless for them to remaster it. Or if anything they could probably make the Forever-Exclusive levels part of a possible REROLL of Beautiful Katamari, if this one does well.
It's not pointless when Forever added significant new features like the jump ability and Katamari Drive. Then the fact that the levels taken from the first game control a lot better thanks to the improved physics where it's less janky. Forever has its place in the series. It's the largest game in the franchise with the most content.
