Even though the first one has has a lot of qualities and I like it a lot, We Love Katamari is my favourite, I find the levels have more variety and are designed a bit better.

This game is way better than the first one, the physics are far more refined which is noticeable in literally every moment of gameplay and the levels are way more creative and unique.

as much as I adore the first game still, this one has far more replayability and variety.

Definitely play the first one some day, there are a lot of great things about it. Both masterpiece. (not counting reroll bugs)

I see this is an old topic and you've made your decision. But for anyone else wondering, If you have any intention of wanting to play Katamari Damacy Reroll, playing this one first will make it much more difficult as We Love Katamari is an objective improvement in every way. Well, maybe not EVERY way. The soundtrack of the original is unique and worth experiencing. But We Love Katamari has much better controls and more content. Would be nice if they could both be sold as a collection at a reduced price in the future, though.
