is there a penalty for guessing wrong?
Just wondering if say, you guess it's an intruder but it's a ghost or you just completely get it wrong and no objects have moved in the living room say... Do you get docked time or something like the next anomaly happens sooner? jw

Nope! You just gotta wait for it to come back up which gives time for more anomalies to appear.

Yeah i streamed this last night and i just call it "Sniping" if i cant find something i always have either 1 room going through all 3 object reports, since those are usually the most subtle, or choose 1 anomaly and report all 6 rooms

Theres not really any downside to Snipe all the time

The only real downside to "Sniping" is not figuring out the anomaly yourself. Personally I find games like this more fun to fail if I can't find the changes rather than cheat and get rewarded without actually finding the anomaly.

using a mechanic in a game efficiently is "cheating"?
Are you aware what the definition of cheating is?

You are cheating yourself out of the experience of spotting the differences. Winning is a lot less rewarding as a game experience if you are just spamming random reports to get through the night. And the game doesn't exactly have a lot of replay-ability so you might as well enjoy as much as you can.

I mean i like it. it feels nice when you get a snipe. Personally i dont feel it takes away from the game but yeah i do see your point

I beg to differ just on the point of replayability. I've beaten the first game multiple times and still love going back in, even though I'm pretty sure I've seen all of the anomalies it has to offer. I think it's really just up to individual personality lol.

either way its pretty fun, i'd say the downside to sniping isnt "cheating" more so you might not realise what was actually different, but its definitely not cheating, if they didnt like us doing it in their game, they'd have implemented a mechanic to prevent or deter us from doing it in the first place

There is a penalty actually. Guessing wrong constantly causes more anomalies to appear. The Dev confirmed this.

Confirmed this where? I get maybe 1 right for every 10 wrong and still win pretty often

Guessing wrong reduces the time between anomalies by a small amount.

Never knew that. I must admit I was incorrect

Could that increase the overall amount of anomalies you have in that session? Such as...spamming wrong answers to get more anomalies if you were looking for a specific one?

Up to a point yes.
