Error initialising MIDI subsytem
I can't seem to get MIDINOUS to work neither my DAW (Ableton) now with standalone VST's like for example VItal. I've tried plugging in my audio interface and using ASIO driver or even with normal windows sound settings, nothing seems to work. do I need some other program to create a MIDI subsystem that I can send or some sort of settings?

What system? If on Windows, run the BMIDI Installer from the 3rd Party Installers folder in the install directory. From Steam, click Midinous > Manage > Browse Local Files.
My thought is that you may have another version of BMIDI installed (due to some other software) and it is an earlier version than the one that comes with Midinous. Also make sure to do a fresh install and not just a repair.
If on Mac or Linux, I suspect it would be a permissions issue, but I don't think I've seen that error come up for users outside of Windows.

Have the same issue, And when i zry to open "local files" i see a standard windows error "C.\Users\Name not found" ... An reality is , my home path is "c:\Users\Name Surname" ... probably the game client can't handle spaces in a path.

OK, running for me. I simply had to install BMIDI, what is found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Midinous\3rdPartyInstallers ... this is not automatically installed when downloading from steam and who should know that you need this. nothing (maybe i'm blind) in the "Game" gives you a hint for this (nor the help). Works now fine for me with Ableton including routing to a external synth.

It runs automatically on first startup as the install script. However if it's already installed, the installer doesn't do anything.

Ok great that was such an easy fix, just had to run BMIDI, thanks a lot! I really like the idea of this program to get some new creative stuff out, would've been a bummer if for whatever reason my laptop couldn't play it

The BMIDI driver was already installed on my system, it looks like 2 other programs use it. What I had trouble with was getting it to work with my DAW, Waveform 12.5. I had to disable ASIO and select Windows Audio and then it worked well. Getting it to send notes on 4 different channels to 4 synth plugins was a challenge also. I had to set up a "plugin rack" in Waveform, and use one copy of the Patch Bay plugin for each channel. Added my 4 sound plugins and connect MIDI from a Patch Bay to each one, then audio outs from each plugin to different output channels (had to add 3 more L/R pairs to outputs). Patch Bay for channel 1 needs to block all other channels can patch incoming channel 1 to outgoing channel 1. Similar for the other 3 patch bays. I couldn't use even-numbered channels, maybe because I'm working in stereo? Once it was all set up properly, much fun to use! Very relaxing.
