[Workaroud] App not starting in Macs with OpenCore Legacy Patcher
Thanks to user Stahnj for the workaround.
If you have a Mac using OpenCore Legacy Patcher you may have the problem of Midinous not starting, not even creating an ErrorLog to find the issue.
Follow these steps to make it work:

0) I didnt had Midinous installed before these next steps (you can comment below if this works with the app already installed)

1) Open your OpenCore Legacy Patcher (you can update it if you want)
2) Go to Settings
3) In the tab called Security uncheck the option called DISABLE AMFI
4) click Return
5) Click Build and Install OpenCore
6) Finish the installation and reboot
7) Now run the Midinous App

Original Post:

I´ve recently bought it and cant use it, also tested Legacy in Beta Options and same error.
My system:
Macbook Pro Late 2014 with Nvidia Graphics.
16Gigs of Ram
500gigs of SSD
OS: Monterrey 12.6.6

Here its the error log:

I've never seen an error log like this before, and it's not one that my program generated. Without seeing my program logs (if they were even created) I'm afraid i can't really diagnose what's happening. Could be a permissions issue, could be a security thing (even though my app is notarized). Could be a steam installation problem or maybe the package downloaded incorrectly (verify files to confirm). Maybe try running with Rosetta? Did you try the demo before buying?

How can i get that Program Log so you can look at it?

Havent tried the demo, i didnt imagine that the app may not work ...

When i try to run it from the terminal this is the last line with the error
Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Midinous/Midinous.app/Contents/Resources/script: line 3: 99615 Killed: 9 ./Midinous

i uploaded the 3 log files in here

I´ve tried to start it from Steam, from the File Explorer and from a Desktop Shortcut, all gave me the same error.

Well, my program logs are empty, so I don't know what's wrong. You're the first case in hundreds of mac users to run into this problem without some kind of solution. I can say launching through Steam is the only way to launch it that i can support. I would try to run with Rosetta.

My macbook pro is an Intel i7 so there is no Rosetta....

Do you have other newer Mac machines to test? I can't help but think it's your computer's age that may be causing an issue. It seems you've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I think the fact that the legacy version and the new version both crash immediately is telling. Could be graphics, could be CPU. I don't really have a way to know, and I don't have a way to reproduce, unfortunately.

Sorry, i dont have another computer, this is my only computer... (unless Apple decides to make a 80% discount on newer models ... )

I'm also getting this same "Termination Reason: Namespace GUARD" error on my intel MacBook Pro running Monterey and can't get the app to start. Also don't have a newer Mac, but I'll reply back if I figure something out.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I maybe understood 3 words in your reply :)
Hopefully this can help Selknam, too! Thank you for putting in this work.

Thanks a lot! that worked!
I will update the post with the workaround you discovered

With OCLP and AMFI off, make sure you turn off all system auto update checking, or it may try to overwrite OCLP's patches.

I *was* able to run MIDInous...until today, when I updated to v1.1.6. Now, it appears to launch, but doesn't provide the GUI (nor the new Help, nor anything else). Not sure what Stahnj is referring to either (I'm most definitely NOT a gamer) but I am on a Mac M1 running Monterey. Things were fine with MIDInous until today.

***Update 1...I'm noticing, after a (faux) launch, where the Mac Finder framework for the app appears, but the MIDInous gui does not, the app eventually quits, by itself, with no warning or error notifications. It just...winks out of existence, and the Steam host goes from 'Stop' back to 'Launch'.

***Update 2...I was able to get this to work (Macmini M1, Monterey) but only after quitting Steam, relaunching Steam, and starting MIDInous from *within* Steam, rather than from the app that Steam invites you to dl as a 'shortcut' (it's not a shortcut, it's the actual app!) Hope this helps someone?

I can only support issues when the app is launched through Steam. Please use this method to run the program.
