Advanced Farming Methods - Terraced Farming in trailer?

I have been trying to replicated the more advanced terraforming and farming as shown the the game trailer, but every time I attempt to submerge or irrigate my crops i get the notice that they are over watered and drowning. Has anyone been successful in creating a submerged farm paddy or using the terraced farms as shown in the trailer? Is a specific plant needed?

Yes. Only certain types of plants can grow in water. But so far I have only found that lotus can be planted directly in water.

Ah thank you. So it is only specific plants. Will need to do more experimenting then now that i know i am on the right track

lotus,water chestnuts, rice

I tried planting rice in water paddy style. they died from the plant being drowned :(
