Thorns??
So I will try to retain my calm, after trying to pave my way through thorns lol.
So there are multiple tiles with thorns, and do remember that resources are finite. They will run out at some point.

So to people who don't know, thorns regenerate. Not only that, but they regenerate *faster* when heated. That would be ok, I suppose, but once you removed them, *they still regenerate*. There is no way currently to completely remove them, nor have I found anything that I can do with them (apart from throwing them in a storage), not even to destroy the item.

This means that you must have dedicated bots to clearing up thorns. Ok, you might say, that's cool, how many tiles can there be with thorns? The answer is *many*. You can't deal away with them with 3 dedicated bots or something.

And you might still say, dude, what's so important that you wanna remove the thorns for? Well, copper veins are almost completely covered by thorns. And you need copper, not only to make new furnaces (tier 2 bonfire) but also to generally progress the game.

According to the dev(s), thorns were a relatively new implementation, which they added in as an obstacle, and they have some thoughts about how to allow the player to deal with them better in the following update(s). So, if I'm correct in my assumption, this means the mechanic was added in before a way to deal with it was even thought of.

Am I to waste 10+ bots just to pick thorns and throw them in a storage? Will they even be enough? Will we even be able to uproot them?

I mean, an obstacle is fine, but not having the ability to permanently destroy them, or at least, I dunno, burn them? We have fire, just make a bot throw fire at them or something.

Anyone solved the challenge with the way how we can get to Volcano area now? :D

I dunno if anything changed, but what I did was to put 2 bots per thorn tile, and a storage directly behind them, and only pick from that tile, and if they can't, they wait. Next tile, 2 more bots.

After the tile gets depleted, you only need 1 bot per tile to keep it in check, but I leave both of them anyway, as waiting doesn't waste their batteries.

I have just started and am getting to the sulfur spring and I am already (afraid) of thorns... Maybe they can be put together into branches, for example - and branches into logs - quite in the spirit of the game itself.

The regrow speed of the thorns is ridiculous. You need 2 bots per tile to remove thorns and 1 bot to keep the tile clean. And when the bots fetch something to eat in the meantime the thorns regrow extremely fast. This is completely nuts.
And btw heaters stop working while overgrown by thorns, so you have to fight against thorns AND ice. This system needs a rework.

My solution is to ignore the thorns and choose a path free of thorns.

My solution:
1. Automate bot building, limit it at 5-10 bots (you won't need more at a time)
2. For each thorn tile, put 2 bots and have them pick thorns, then wait if the tile is empty.
3. Put furnaces, and/or the higher one (and you might instead need the one that warms stuff in a line) and put 1 dedicated bot to refuel per furnace.

This way, there's no way the thorns on those particular tiles will ever grow back. However, this simply means removing thorns in a line to get to the volcano. Though it can work for all thorn tiles (the bots per tile will hardly spend any energy once they're done emptying the tile) it's extremely silly to manage, and the thorns will end up regrowing.

However, I think they're working on burner bots and stuff, that you will probably be able to use for thorns? I just hope the volcano isn't used solely for this, and gives us some infinite resource or some thing we can grow there?
