The Parasites

The Parasite should be Early Access instead of Timed
There are 3 versions...
Steam version... very old version, Currently 1.0.8.0
Website version... latest version, hard to download, but free. Currently 1.2.2.0
Patreon version... Latest version, Full Version, No Timer. Currently 1.2.2.0 ( untested )

Patreon No Timer... Don't own the Patreon version, but from what I've read, it has no Timer...

The Demo is Timed... I think this is a bad idea, people will play it, and get burned out, when the timer ends, and they lose everything. Never returning...

Instead, it should be an Alpha Version, with selectable versions in Steam, like Minecraft does.

===

What I'd do...
- £10 Priced Early Access Version... free updates until Final Version Released, -£10 on price.
- Patreon... they get all the updates 1-2 Months Early.

===

I bought the Early Access of Ark Survival Evolved, going from very basic, with only 1 Biome, to what it is today. Updating or not updating your game to the next version...

A 1 man team, may never finish the game... best release it in Early Access and make some money from the game, as well as hype for the upcoming versions.

No Man's Sky really updated their game, I bought the game on Steam when it was released, and keep coming back to it, when it gets updates.

I'm long overdue to come back to play No Mans Sky again, as it has some amazing updates since I last played it. I lost one of my Worlds with one of the updates, but started again...

The Parasite... Version 1.2.2.0

Saving... doesn't work in the Demo, no Load Option...

- Finished the Cave
- Built a Hunters Shelter
- Built a Minecraft styled Storage Container, fantastic storage option
- Saved my game twice
- Slept
- Ate and Drank

- Got attacked by 3 Enemies at my Camp, that shrug off Axe hits, like they were nothing
- Pulled out my Pistol
- Had the Ammo Clip in the Slot
- Had the Ammo in the Slot
- Pistol not firing... needs a Hud for Ammo, unless it's meant for immersion, that your equipped weapon can only be tested by firing it.

- Pulled out my Stone Axe, and hit the enemies lots of times. No damage, no stagger...

- After many swings with my Axe, I died.

Great I thought, Reload my Save...

Nope... x3 Lives, used up one of my Lives. No option to Load my Save Game, back to the beginning in the Cave.

Did the Cave again... got outside the Cave, no Structures I'd built, no Minecraft styled Container. Back to the very beginning, with 2 Lives.

Sighed... then quit the game. I'll try again tomorrow...

===

Youtube Playthrough... not mine.

20:50 mark at this video show's combat, and failed Axe Combat, along with No Saving...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNv8Nw4AFwY

===

Save / Load...

If I'm starting from the very beginning, with nothing at all, all structures destroyed. Then why the 3 Lives...

After spending an Hour on the start of the game, having nothing again, and lost a Life, when I have 2 Save Games. I quit...

What's the point, if you can't Save / Reload for builders out there. Even on a Timed Demo, you have to give people the ability to Save / Reload.

Having to do the Cave, every time you die, gets old fast...

Plus the Cave Entrance, should be a Starter Area, no hoards of Mutants destroying your Camp...

===

Features Needed...
- Ditch the Lives... they add nothing.
- Add Save / Reload
- Remove Timer and make the Demo Early Access on Steam for £10

- Add Basic Hud... Like Ark

HUD...
Slots... what in them and Buttons
Equipped item... with Ammo
What buttons do, instead of just showing Buttons when you pick up stuff.

Eg...

Torch.
R Light
D Drop
U Unequip

Pistol.
R Reload
D Drop
U Unequip

Loved the Demo... just it's irritating having to start from the beginning, with nothing, every time I die...

There are 3 versions...
Steam Demo version... very old version, Currently 1.0.8.0
Demo ... 24 Hour Limit

===

Website Demo version... latest version, hard to download, but free. Currently 1.2.2.0
Demo ... 24 Hour Limit

===

Patreon version... Currently 1.2.2.0
Full Version ... No Timer

From what I've been reading on Youtube comments, the Patreon version is without a Timer... The Author should add that to his Main Page. Along with versions, and differences...

I can't test that out, as I don't have the Patreon version.

===

SAVING...
I just found out, you have to SAVE WITH EMPTY HANDS.

I haven't tested it out yet...
i agree it sucks theres no saving and you have to start over again and if they want people to buy the demo for like 15$ they should make the combat better and more ui and you should be able to sleep in the tents at the start
and i personally think they should add mre flat ground and make it more easy to get to the beach and that ive tested i cant bulid anything when i press e or f on it it wont add like logs or branches onto the shelter

Yeah... it's only one person making it, and from what I've read, he's been working on it for a few Years.

Saving... I haven't tried it, but supposedly, your Hands need to be empty to Save the game. It sounds weird, but it's worth trying.

If you play the Demo, use the Website Version. The Steam Version is very old, and lacking many features.

Website Demo is free... make sure you pick the Free Options in Grey Writing on the Download Section.
But will take over 30 Hours to download, as they only allow a small amount to be downloaded for free, every 5 1/2 Hours. It'll take x5 Downloads...

The Download, has an Automatic Continue, each time you return to finish your download.

Building...
Adding items to stuff you build... you've got to hit F, but it has to be on the correct section of what you are building, and in the correct order.
Build from the Top of build List going down, and use F on the parts you are building.

Holding Logs...
Use F to add them to the Log Parts of the build, by hovering over the Log Parts of the build. It' took me a while to get it working, I press F whilst moving around trying to get a location to add stuff to.

Tooltips...
It could do with a better Tooltips HUD, aka... Button Pressing Info onscreen, and Yes and No Build icons, when holding stuff.

Eg...
E Interact
R Reload / Place / Ignite Torch
D Drop
F Place on Floor

Instead of... which is what we currently get On-Screen.
E
R
D
F

yeah thats why i got the latest version the steam one is outdated
Bug... version 1.2.2.0 ... Inventory Deleted on Loading Game.

Saving does not save inventory...
Boxes you make are all filled, but you appear with no items at all, in your inventory...

Which means, if you play it. You will have to drop all your items into a Box, before Saving and Exiting the game.

You'll have to make a Save Box, for your items, and not quit the game, unless you have Zero Items in your Inventory.

===

Found a way around it...

Backup Saves Daily... Dated Folders.
- Saves Folder
--- 10.2.25 Folder
--- 11.2.25 Folder

Reload Save when game Save bugs out, and deletes all your stuff.

I finally worked out how to do it, and got my deleted items back. I was about to start it again, for the 6th time...

===

Save Game Directory...

Path... C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\TheParasites\Saved\SaveGames\SaveServer

Copy the Save Folder into your Backups.

Copy and Paste your Backups, to get it to work again, into the above Game Path. If it bugs out, and deletes all your stuff.

I worked out, that SaveServer Save Game is what is used, in Single Player...

You have the Main Save, and Main Save Backup. Like in the game called Ark.

I downloaded this yesterday on steam and seeing all these comments makes me aware i have probably the oldest version of this game....

That said though i do agree with giving a save / load option as starting over every time in the same old spot with nothing can get to any gamer.

On a positive note for someone that loves 3rd person games mainly compare to 1st person, i see alot of potential here, even though this is the 1st ever survival game ive tried, there is lost of cool features, crafts, and strategising involved. Very fun overall experience for me!!!

My suggestions as i know this is probly still gonna take a while to finish is to include the following:

1. When shooting with gun to rather have all your ammo available to use (you could add reload feature too). This loading 1 bullet using and then loading another is just next level crazy to try kill anything.

2. As a 1st time survival game player but a passionate 3rd person gamer, ensure to add all the details on nudity otherwise it feels cheap, also add loads of customization for character skins, hair, face, body type, etc.

3. Clothes to have a wide variety to craft or find that changes the appearance of the character as you equip them.

4. Possibly allow male characters as well? if not then add different type of female characters and with this i mean like a each type of female character has different skills i.e. strength, stealth, manipulation, etc. (just throwing ideas around)

Honestly overall i think this game idea has the possibility to be pure gold!!

Well done on all that has been brought to us gamers!!

I'm just a fan of the game, I haven't got the skill to make one myself. I just make mods for mainly Fallout 4...

Loading the Gun...

1. You have to...
- Put the Gun in your Inventory
- Click on the Gun to Open It
- Remove the Magazine
- Put your Bullets in the Magazine
- Put the Magazine in the Gun
- Put a Bullet in the Slot, It's called Chambering. Bullets in the Magazine, one in the Chamber, aka ready to fire.
- Put the Gun in the Gun Slot at the Bottom Left

I prefer the Pointy Stick, just the Stone Spear. It doesn't snap, or run out of Bullets. Axes do nothing to the Enemies.

======

2. I've played thousands of Hours on Survival Games.
- Minecraft ... yep... it's a Survival Game
- The Forest... Just like The Parasite
- Sons of the Forest... A follow up with Kelvin and Virginia companions, they're great

Customisation... I love that stuff, I'd add Uniboob to the outfits. Where the Fabric Stretches across the Breasts. It looks much better, and more natural.

I do that to the clothing on Fallout 4...

I make Treasure Hunt mods for Fallout 4 on The Nexus, just putting the finishing touches on my 480 Outfit Treasure Hunt called Vtaw Mega Treasure Hunt for Fallout 4. So I love the outfit changes and good skin tones.

I'd also add some way to wash yourself in The Parasite, wash off the dirt, blood, etc.

======

3. There are lots of clothing, they are in the Suitcases. Bash them open with an Axe, or pick the locks. Suitcases randomly generate loot...

======

4. I like the idea of playing as either type of survivor, but it takes a lot to make a 3d Model, make the textures, bones, fit the clothing to a male model.

I've played Skyrim, with a Gender mod. Where Men and Women were different sizes, strengths, and with different skills.

Women were like a Hard Mode, less Carry-weight, Melee Power, etc...

The game is being made by a single guy, so I wouldn't think he has the time to make a Male Model, and all the male versions of clothing as well.

======

It's a fun game, with potential...

Wishlist...

- Steam Early Access £10 ... with updates keeping interest, like No Mans Sky, Minecraft, Cyberpunk, Ark, etc...

- Save / Load ... Currently no Load Feature
- No Lives ... just Save / Load
- Tool Tips Icons ... currently, it just show button to press, with you trying to remember what it does.

- Hud for what each Number Does
- Hud for Bullets Loaded
