Where's the backpack?

I just started playing this demo, i found the torch and was able to use it but no backpack. I've watched a couple gameplays and all of them had the backpack before leaving the cave. I've checked the cave and all around the camping tents and still can't find it.

P.S the tutorial is bugged from hell, it wants you craft an axe but I only found 1 stone it takes 2, I picked up a big stick it locked me out of certain controls unable to drop it and open up inventory.
the game looks promising but I can't take that chance of waisting time and money on something like this

The tutorial needs some work, but for an pre-early access demo it serves the purpose. Rocks are hard as hell to find. I restarted and found three around the totem. They are there, just hard to spot. As far as the picking up the stick I thought this was a bug and restarted three times. Eventually there is a hint wall that tells you "G" drops what you have in your hand. When you have a big stick just tap "G" you'll drop it and then you can open up your menus again.
