Clank!

My review: not worth it, wait until more content is added!
I am an avid Clank player, owning most copies of the game and its expansions in real life. I also was able to play the closed beta (having backed Clank Legacy 2) and completed all of the challenges.

The game and UI is well made, but base Clank is just too simple and boring of a game, completely dependent upon luck of the cards.

The price tag is way too high for only getting base clank and no expansions or other content. I can't justify adding this to my collection. Once actual interesting content is added (e.g. a digital Clank Legacy! or Clank In Space campaign), I might change my mind.

I oddly can't leave a review even though I played the closed beta.

If anyone is interested in reviews, here is a link to the bgg page with 5.5k comments and 43k ratings.

Currently ranked as the 82nd best game of all time.

For the record base Clank! Is phenomenal and the expansions best features are that they add more maps to play for variety. The rest of the expansion mechanisms are nice, but they don't fundamentally change the game.

Base Clank! Is a high variance game, like many in this category decisions matter much more than luck most of the time.

Clank Catacombs would be an awesome addition. Love that the map is different every time.

Agreed. I own three of the physical games and was really excited for this to go digital. The base game is a classic but it gets old fast. I was hoping for more content.

I never got this, why is a random map a good thing? Clank! Is chaotic enough, the random map just reduces the strategy I imagine?

I've played more games of Catacombs than all other Clanks combined. Absolutely my favourite way to play. I'd say it's a good thing because every game feels different, in a way you just don't get with the static boards. You have to adapt more to a changing situation. I (and everyone I've played it with) find it a lot more interesting than any of the others.

Would definitely love to see Catacombs added to digital!

Catacombs would be awesome but probably be a different/new game. There's some info to be found for at least all 3 expansions for this version. Lets hope they will announce those soon.

Sorry, have to disagree with this. My wife and I played CLANK a lot. I have everything for it. It IS the one game that I don't see the need to mix everything. Just seems odd with having water creatures and scuba gear when there is no water in the dungeon. We have enjoyed playing whatever expansion with whatever cards came with it. Probably the only game we do that with. Water cards stay with the water expansion, spider cards stay with spider expansion, you get the point. Other than mixing it up with the character pack, we have had lots of fun as is. The digital version arrived just in time for her birthday. Look forward to lots of plays and I'm sure all the digital expansions that will be arriving in the future.
