Munchkin Digital Rules FAQ
Greetings, munchkins! We’d like to clear up some rules questions you sharp-eyed folks have sent our way.

While we were digitizing the dungeon, we had lots of questions and worked with Steve Jackson Games to clarify and otherwise make rules tweaks to help streamline the experience. Some of these in fact made it back to the tabletop game, as well, and can be found in the Munchkin FAQ below.

First, a player may always choose to fight a “friendly” monster - that means all you Thieves can stab the Lawyer right in the back! Of course, if the monster is a bit too strong to tackle, you can take advantage of their charitable nature and avoid the fight instead. Choose wisely, as your decision can’t be reversed.

Second, item cards in your hand can be discarded when something instructs you to discard an item. Previously, cards in your hand didn’t count as having a type, so effects like Curse! Lose a Small Item forced you to lose something already in play. This change puts the power to choose in your hands.

One card tweak in Munchkin digital doesn’t apply to the tabletop version. In digital, when you compel a helper with Kneepads of Allure and the fight suddenly becomes one for the winning level (perhaps a sneaky munchkin tossed a Wandering Monster at you!), your helper won’t leave your side. Instead, you are prevented from gaining your 10th level if you win the combat. Again, this change does not apply to the tabletop version of the game.

If you have any questions please drop us a line at Support@DireWolfDigital.com.

Thanks for playing Munchkin!

I think in that case is ok to have the choice to discard something from your hand, but it should not be mandatory to discard an item if you only have that kind of item in your hand and not in play.

I'd much rather the helper get ejected from the fight instead of being blue-balled the final level. even if that ends with me having to roll away. It's a shame you couldn't manage to do with the Kneepads what you managed to do with wandering in a gazebo that gets a helper ejected from the fight too.

I appreciated when y'all fixed the elf thing though, sad at the above, and transferal potion's exclusion at the same time. And not making folk readily aware of relaunching to rejoin till y'all can fix screen freezes, even if you told people to send a feedback log first..

I agree with you, I would prefer that, but in my experience it is really rare that the case appears now, really not sure if I have seen any case since is working like now.
Definitely the patch from 2 months ago to not been able to win forcing with the kneepads was critical as it happened a lot of times.

Well, It doesn't happen a lot.. But in the way they have it setup now,
(which is essentially them giving up on ever fixing or making it work right..
Like how they gave up on attempting to implement Transferal Potion)

If you force say an elf to help you, and the fight is made the winning fight the elf isn't forced out of the fight and can still get the levels even if it allows them to win..

where as the person forcing the elf is denied levels allowing the elf to win by having been forced to help with the kneepads..

Where as if they worked like they should the elf would be forced out of the fight, and you could then ask the elf for help normally and both co-win if the elf accepts.

Of course i can account for them giving up and leaving the kneepads like this,
but it's just disappointing that they don't care to get the game right...

Makes me feel like Munchkin digital should've been given to a different company that could've done it right and be more focused on making a good Munchkin game rather than attention spread between many different games.

When will we see expansions if we are ever so lucky? Just main game perhaps?

Did you miss this?:

Steve Jackson Games approved all of these changes. If you have a complaint, contact them, not the developer.

I didn't miss anything lol, was just expressing some feelings of frustration at that moment. Ultimately i still play the game, occasionally make bug reports an etc. I just want to encourage'em to make the best adaptation it can be.

What is the order in which decisions are made when a player fights a monster with a helper? During a battle, I wanted to weaken a monster with a card (-5 strength), but my assistant beat me to it and removed it from the game, leaving me without a level or treasure. Shouldn't the main player be the first to make decisions?

If you invited someone into the battle they have to wait for you to end your jump in to play anything,

if they played "Take me!" or something which forced you to accept their help on their jump in, it'd still be their jump in to play stuff.

And if you -5 it they can still jump in after and remove the monster, if they'd still want to.
