Steam overlay issue

does anyone else have the issue of steam overlay not working? i wanted to remote play with friends but i can't because overlay wont open.

Common reasons for the Steam overlay not working that I can remember:
- you're running a video capture software / fps counter (like FRAPS)
- you're starting the game from a shortcut / right-click (as opposed to from the Play button in your library)

Might not be those, but at least you can rule them out if you weren't aware of them.
