Mob should be ashamed!
game poorly optimized
bad level design
wasted characters, Nightmare critters and Pianosaurus even the Doctor wasn't that much of a thrill.
and GOD THE PUZZLES, THEY'VE PUT AN 8 YEAR OLD TO DESIGN THE PUZZLES
frustrating, irritating, and lame.
really not that hyped for chapter 5.

Tbh, in terms of lore, everyone thinks that Poppy is better than FNAF in that aspect.
all of that said, poppy's playtime is worse because they tried to gatekeep lore behind NFTs lol
That was 3 years ago and idk why they made that stupid decision, but at least they are trying to make up for it by giving out lore for free in their ARGs unlike FNAF which still gatekeeps their lore behind a thousand paid books lmao

I still agree with the rest of your comment tho

they're both not great, but poppy has the benefit of being a bit more easily digestible, as it's so far avoided major retcons and timeline divergences. at the same time there really isn't much "substance", just world-building. the player still doesn't have a super clear goal outside of "we got a strange letter" which is so flimsy that they even lamp-shaded it in chapter 4 (without giving us a proper explanation, naturally), so most of the game has just been us sort of accidentally stumbling into set-pieces while nothing significant or meaningful actually happens. chapter 4 seems like it wants to break that trend and has something of an actual narrative and clear goal to work towards, but the ending kind of hard resets all of that and puts the player back in "aimless wandering" mode as we've lost both of our guides and are in an unfamiliar location.

it reads like a lot of mascot horror, where everything is kept deliberately vague and unsatisfying in order to serve as theorybait while backing themselves into a corner as they run out of ways to drag things out and have to start actually writing a proper conclusion. batim is a good example of this kind of storytelling blowing up in the writer's face and creating more problems than it solves, but so far i see no reason to suspect poppy's playtime will end up the same way, at most i expect the ending to be kind of underwhelming at worst. we got a proper resolution on ollie's character so we know they aren't afraid of answering questions, they're just holding off for now (although considering there are only two chapters left i'd argue they're waiting a bit too long). the biggest red flag is that a bunch of mob's staff left/got replaced, but chapter 4 turned out relatively okay despite that so we'll have to wait and see.

in that regard, i'd say poppy's playtime had a bit of an advantage there, since they had a team of people working together on the story, whereas for most of it's existence fnaf has had one overworked man developing the story hastily in order to appease a rapidly growing fanbase (there's no excuse for what he did to security breach though, that was just senseless sabotage for the sake of it).

all of that said, poppy's playtime is worse because they tried to gatekeep lore behind NFTs lol

Wait, what?! I didn't knew avout the NFTs thing!

it was soon after chapter 1 released iirc, they had a series of NFT collectibles that contained lore you couldn't get anywhere else. when there was significant blowback and criticism (since they were paywalling lore and NFTs are a terrible, awful idea and universally hated by anyone capable of thinking) the ceo of mob entertainment made a statement apologizing and saying they "deeply regretted" going into NFTs, explained that they didn't mean to paywall lore and that it was just teasers for the next chapter (that being chapter 2), and then said they were leaving the NFTs up for sale anyway because they were under contract. to this day the page to purchase them is still up, though it seems like they haven't been very popular, as ~97% of them have remained unsold to this day.

Nah I think they are being totally reasonable. Releasing a game in this bad of quality is an absolute disgrace to all the fans who have supported Mob from the beginning. Post like these are exactly what is needed to make the developers understand that we as a community will not accept the slop they released any longer.

i dunno, i still feel like chapter 3 and chapter 4 are comparable enough in terms of quality that i feel the outrage chapter 4's generated feels a little unwarranted. then again i mostly avoided most of the major glitches/crashes people have been talking about so my experience is probably more positive than most people's.

I see where you're coming from, but Chapter 3 did release horribly too. You cant discredit the fact that this should never be the case. I get there may be a few "tiny" bugs on release, but a game releasing with 4 major patch notes in the first week, and more to come, leaves a bad taste in my mouth (as it should everyone who purchased this)

According to the devs they can’t take the page down due to a contract they signed.

Personally I disagree because people have a right to complain but I do feel Iike the Pianosaurus thing was blown out of hand.

Bruh, look at the quality of chapter 1 n' 2, chapter 3 was a let down but still an barely enjoyable experience.
To release chapter 4 with the same ammount of bugs as chapter 3 release...

I remember needing a key to get to the next room on chapter 3, it was on a vent in the ceiling, upon opening it the key should fall, guess what?

I needed at least 4 checkpoint loads for the key to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ render.
Some people needed to tweak the graphics for the key to show up.

Agree with you, my Wife and I were looking up for chapter 3.
The teasers were amazing, trailers were fabulous.

The way the lore is build up and presented to the player is top notch, something that lacks on chapter 4.
But to only face catnap in the end of the episode, and barely fighting him, it was a huge letdown.
Not to mention, he wasn't scary at all.

All the audio design budget were spent on the chapter trailer.

Catnap's meow resembling children screams, dude imagine hearing that on a dark room/hallway.

Fooking terryfying, but they lost the opportunity :( wich let us both to give a step back when it comes to MOB...
I like the puzzles
Regarding Chapter 4, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I'm not very good with horror, so I won't comment on the scares – Chapter 3 was just too frightening for me. As for the abundance of bugs, since patches are bound to come out eventually, all we can do is wait (although I can't help but suspect they're effectively turning the players into debugging staff).

My biggest complaint, however, is with the completeness of the story. Sadly, no matter how many patches are applied, this is something that can never be fixed.
First of all, the dark side of Playtime Inc. is portrayed in an utterly unrealistic manner. How is it that the sudden death of over 60 people and the disappearance of an entire household (Doey's family) fail to create as much of a stir as the CatNap recall? In an effort to depict Playtime Inc.'s misdeeds on an epic scale, the narrative has strayed too far from reality. Moreover, the personalities of the executives are far too one-dimensional and lack any real complexity. A good villain is one whose own follies are an inseparable part of their character. Dr. Sawyer, Leith Pierre, and Eddie Ritterman all come off as typical, trite, and nothing more than stock antagonists.
On the other hand, Mommy long legs seemed to possess a very complex inner life. I know nothing about who she was when she was human, but after transforming into her Bigger Body, I sensed in her a deep loneliness and a profound sadness inherent to humanity.

Originalmente postado por Mommy long legs:
It was always so sad to see the kids go... They called me 'Mommy' because I was the closest thing they ever had to one. But they'd come for games, and never come back.

This line, heard in Statues, is incredibly striking. It suggests that, having become her Bigger Body, her only purpose in life was to play with the children. Yet to them, she wasn't seen as a "mother" but merely as "mommy" – nothing more than a mascot character. That must have been utterly despairing for her. It is a true tragedy.
(This is merely a hypothesis, but I suspect that her reluctance to become part of the prototype stemmed from the existence of the orphans. If that's true, perhaps she could have become the caring and gentle "Mother" after all…?)

In Chapter 3, I had expected that role would be passed on to the Smiling Critters, but it ended up falling flat. I was hoping that this installment would make up for Chapter 3's shortcomings, yet I was deeply frustrated to find it filled with the same panel voice-overs, the hollow Yarnaby, the Nightmare Critters, and Dr. Sawyer—just as in Chapter 3.
