Can somebody explain the story for me please?

Not gonna lie i kinda forgot the story from chapter 1/2, was our protagonist a child from this factory?

the player is a former employee who left the company sometime before the hour of joy took place. the player returns at the start of chapter 1 because they received a mysterious letter claiming to be from the missing employees, so they (we?) came to search for them.

elliot ludwig is a bit of a mystery, we don't know a whole lot about him specifically. tests and experiments WERE occurring while he was alive, so he definitely wasn't a saint.

the toys rebelled on their own, under the leadership of the prototype. the motive being their mistreatment at the hands of playtime co. and wanting to be free.

the toy monsters are a result of a series of tests known as the "bigger bodies initiative" which was an attempt to cut costs and staff count by experimenting on the children living in playcare, turning them into giant, organic versions of some of playtime co.'s toys. the process erased their memories, save for some minor subconscious stuff, so they don't recall anything outside of their current forms.

i mostly watch official VHS Tapes from the games files/YT Videos from Mob Games. It tells you more about the lore of this game
