Chapter 3 couldn't start error

I opened the game and played normally for a while. Closed the game, then when I opened the game and clicked chapter 3, the game crashed and i get this message:

Couldn't start:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Poppy Playtime\Poppyplaytime_Chapter3\Playtime_Chapter3\Binaries\Win64\Playtime_Chapter3-Win64-Shipping.exe' Playtime_Chapter3 (null)
CreateProcess() returned 2.

I'm not sure what character is after the word CreateProcess, it might be a zero or (), but it looks like a tall skinny zero.

I tried turning off my firewalls one by one, adding an exclusion to virus and threat protection settings in Windows for the file listed above (when I navigated to it though, it had the extension .pdb not .exe. No idea what that means), I also added an exclusion for the Process "UnrealGame".

After all that, the exact same thing happens.

I'm now trying an uninstall and reinstall. I'll let you know how that goes, but please give me more ideas, I don't want to lose my progress every time I close the game.

ok, the re-install fixed it for now. I just won't close the game until I finish it I guess...If this happens again when I close the game, I will let you guys know.

Browse local game files > Poppyplaytime_Chapter 3 > Playtime_Chapter3 > Binaries > Win64 > Create shortucut of the Playtime_Chapter3-Win64-Shipping.exe and launch game from the shortcut.

I deleted the game and re-installed it after turning off the windows defender real time protection and it worked well. But when I try to restart the game after quitting it, it doesn't work again... Make sure finish the game once you start it.

this works for me. for some reason the new launcher is busted, but running the .exe from the game files launches just fine!
