It barely works on Windows with constant UE4 crashes and good luck using vulkan, it completely locks you out of the game unless you reinstall. I can't get pass the gear mold room as it keeps crashing UE4. This game isn't worth honestly, I wish I didn't spend 2 hours trying to fix it so I could refund it.

If you really want to try to play Chapter 1 and 2 on the steam deck without getting rid of its original OS, try using Proton. But like I said this game is super unstable as is on Windows that it'd probably do the same thing or worse with proton. You can of course, try it if you have not already.

Is that not what Steam is already doing? Almost every game is running through Proton on Steam Deck.

Some could choose to run native if said game supports linux, could be wrong as I do not have one myself and only have general knowledge of gaming on linux by it's self. If it runs on proton by default than Poppy Playtime should work. It is made in Unreal Engine 4 afterall.

I should have clarified initially that the game boots up fine. It'll play the intro video, then go black.

That is a common crash even on Windows. I would try running the game in directx12 or 11 as Vulkan appears to be completely borked.
