In any case sic 'em is best tested with multi-hit spells (upgraded ball lightning, fork lightning), because the proc chance is too low.
Never had issues with splinter swarm. It's quite meh however, even with 100+ armor. IG nightshade could use it but wyld nightshade is not viable right now because there's literally no weapon for it until 80% into the game.
Energy attunement is only useful early game pre-necromancer.
Eruptive brambles was recently nerfed, IDK why lol it wasn't OP at all.
