Screw the King Priest.
Was enjoying this game up until this boss. Nonstop spamming of his ♥♥♥♥, and now I learn he has a second phase? Screw that.

Definitely a spike in difficulty, but not impossible. I finished the game with a greatsword "build". Learn the pattern and don't get greedy doing damage and you can win.

I die in 3 hits, it's absurd. I have 839 health, is that way too low or something?

I think I had 900+ hp but under 1k. And yeah I got chunked with a few hits too, so the boss' damage is definitely very high. It's doable if you learn the patterns and have high damage output then you don't have to consider the lantern meter at 2nd phase.

I had plate armor mostly so the damage reduction was ok, but not enough to tank the boss.

Honestly I was like "this is some bs" on the first phase, but then I was reminded that I had the wings... which I totally forgot lol. :D

Yeah I can't be bothered with it. It's super annoying and to know he has a second phase when I struggle just to get past the first has left a sour taste in my mouth. His ♥♥♥♥ comes out too fast with his little AoE bubble and his finger pointing zap attack.

My damage output doesn't seem to be that good either for this guy.

Fun game up to that point. The runback is a chore as well. It's not even a hard run back, just an annoying one.

Yeah I know how you feel. I wasn't super excited about the running part back to the boss especially since there was a very good spot for a checkpoint right before the boss.

The boss' damage is pretty absurd I know, but if you learn the patterns you can dodge most of them it should be pretty easy to do the first phase.

I don't know what your build is... but you can always try using potions and food buffs.

I'm using the hammers that float around a spot and the holy blessing weapon. I'll summon a wolf every so often too.

Damage output just isn't good enough and because the close range AoE comes out so fast, it's difficult to even get a swing in from time to time. I'm sure if I practice I can figure it out but right now it's not rewarding.

Feels absurdly overtuned. So I think i'll just wait for a patch. Thanks for the advice anyway.
You can simply respec to wyldwarden then build around ball lightning so you don't need to swing at all. Get the DOT ugprade to ball lightning, ignore the other one.

Wyld: sic 'em (forked lightning on the dummy to max), rejuvenation, eruptive brambles, spiritual focus, unstable elements

Vindicator: unbreakable spirit, elevated spirit, astral power

Spellbinder: power vacuum (path up using the con/def nodes)

Vanguard: enhanced endurance, iron will

Take con from defensive nodes, spirit from offensive and endurance from utility. After the talents you should have at least 13 pts left. You may need a few points in vigor, rest fill out offensive nodes.

Use the entire wyldwarden set from the coven store. Use con+vigor runes. Wear damage reduction rings, furion's protection, maybe innervating ring. Use 20% resist food & potion of absorption.

Platforms with deathfalls and bullet hell attacks, yep, this priest king come from nes hell. And checkpoint half map away... Hilling attack please like on Malenia and all will be set.
I found a bug in phase 2. If you use the lantern and die to the orbs you're lantern saves you and you respawn in the throne room after death. I've only had it happen twice but it seems like its definitely supposed to save you from running back. Phase 1 is super doable if you learn the attack timing. Laser beam and aoe bubble can both be dodge rolled. Everything else in phase one is just running around and air dashing. Its his DAMAGE that is broken. 450+ dmg on EVERY ATTACK. Barely any time to heal. Phase 2 just kills me instantly every time I make it. Its clear to me this wasn't properly play tested with all builds (non min maxed) especially. I dont want to give up... but damn did they layer it on thick with the bs in this fight. Its almost like they wanted bad reviews and backlash...

Taking talents from other trees is not min maxing, the game nearly directly tells you to do it during character creation, and the trees are literally connected to each other.

It's possible as pure nightshade to keep spamming shadowstep, having continuous invulnerability. It's also possible to increase survivability thru mixing classes.

If you want to be stubborn and not take advantage of what options are available then you better be playing perfectly, because if not then why are you criticizing when it's your choice to make it more difficult than it should be?
I beat him on second try having 76% void resistance achieved by all rings/food/potions that increases resistances
It takes less than 30 seconds to run back to him too

You beat phase 2 on the 2nd try? Wow what build? Can you post the talent tree please?

Took me like 50+ attempts to finally beat both phases.

In the first phase he uses mostly astral attacks that we cannot improve resistance, but is easier than many of previous bosses. He's slow and you just need to roll/evade his spells, crouch when he prepares the "laser" attack and that's all.

His 2nd phase is supposed to be the hardest, but we have one advantage that I think most players don't notice: ALL OF IS ATTACKS IS OF THE VOID ELEMENT. Then you just need to raise this element resistance to the highest possible.
There's a cape that add 15% resistance, one ring that add more 15% or 20% resistance (I dont remember), the food that increase 20% of all resistances, the ring that prevents 25% damage when HP is less than 50%... Stack all of this and each time he hits you, your HP bar decreases less than 5% (considering you have at least 800 HP)
