Elevators
just lost 50k on runback by getting smashed by elevator. does this game want me to play it? or does it want to punish me for stupid things? it really kills my spirit when i beat a boss only go be slapped in the face by a crappy "gotcha" mechanic. spikes? falling? strangely forgiving pendulum? sure. elevator smash? come on.

I...am not sure what you expected the elevator to do? This is just going to be one of those, now you know not to stand under the elevator, most elevators i've seen also have squished body parts under them to indicate it will kill you.

While I can understand your frustration of losing 50k to an environmental hazard, I actually chuckled when I got properly smashed by an elevator, because the entire game I just assumed it's bad but never had the balls to actually test it.
The game could care less, do you want to play more?
Does it suck I guess a little, it's a learning experience, you won't do it again.
Souls are like this, just forget about it and grind on soldier.

Not what the elevator does but what the character does... stepping aside in the z-axis.
There are quite a few examples where the background or foreground are used as different planes and I also would like it being the case on elevators.

I think there should be a fog door at the boss entrance to make me realise that I'm about to be involved in an intense battle, as it's easy to die in the first boss fight. Or just have a bonfire at the boss entrance. Carrying too much "souls" into a fight is actually quite a mind-numbing burden.

So its jank, but i found a way around this kinda, if you die to a boss (usually) you can go pick up your souls, and run to the entry of the boss arena and die again, and then you can usually pick up your souls from outside the arena by edging close to it.

Not ideal, but its worked for me so far on everyone but the marionette since you just have to straight up drop into them.
