I've completed the game a few times and I never really upgraded the tents, it's so tedious. Needing to level the crafters and too much focus on crafting is one of the game's major flaws for me definitely.
I said this on another post. The crafting/leveling system is overcomplicated and pointless.

Not upgrading the tents is a hot take.
Upgrading the tents (not the NPC itself) is not necessary to finish the game.
I also thought that updating the tent is very pointless. Too much crafting materials and gold to just just get a 20% discount. And this not even include crafting prices, only the items they sell...
I think there are a few upgrades that affect craft price (maybe just enchanter and blacksmith?). I would like to note that the discount upgrades (currently) seem to bug out your sell prices ("discounting" the amount they pay to you), so be sure to offload your dupe equipment on a non-Witch Tree merchant.
