Is this game made for mages?
I have the feeling the game is tuned only for mages,

In the ending Area if you play a melee class like warrior or rogue and even if you have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tower shield with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of armor/defences every mob can 2shot you, wtf

the good point is : your dmg scales so high (with warrior rogue is bad sorry ) you OS every mob and you roll on bosses

Do they have a plan to tunes up the armor/defence or just balance the dmg ?

Hard to say... first, there are melee builds that make you pretty much invincible, though it kind of defeats the purpose of skill tress, as you are forced into one build all the time.

Second, kind of yes, there is a ton of "bosses" that are very easy with a mage and very tough with a melee class if you are not skilled the proper way. But there are also few bosses that end your mage very easily and a melee class is the way to go.

In conclusion, I would say mages are the way to go in Mandragora. There are more enemies, especialy bosses, that seems to be designed with a ranged class in mind to defeat, and even those where a mage have a disadvantage in comparison to a melee class, are easier to make work than the other way around.

Kind of disappoiting if you ask me. I think shields, especialy tower shields, should absorb 100% of damage to make melee classes worthwhile. Like the tower shield bearing bandits in the beginning when they duck behind their shield... immune to melee, but magic goes through.

Yeah what's the point of holding a powerful shield when you can't eat a projectile and have to evade anyway? Beam attacks at least should be blockable by big shields. Make it vice versa for the enemies as well so mage classes can't blast their way through everything... even through enemies with shields.

I played rogue until I got into crimson city and it was not a terrible experience. Switching to the chaos tree I was just face rolling everything, kinda unreal. It seems to me that mage classes were designed first and melee specs added way later.
I started spellbinder and I can't stop dying.

Are we playing the same game? :) (Also playing a spellbinder)

Mages have spells and melee attacks, warrior and rogue only have melee...

I do like playing melee more, especially the rouge with the movement skill(Shadowstep), just fun to use.

I wish more skill could be used in different specs.

Do you know if there's a way to put the difficulty sliders below 70% btw? Everything oneshots me and it's rather unpleasant.

I have not used the difficulty sliders at all, so no clue. But i don't recall ever being one shot by anything except traps, as you can see it my 2nd worst enemy. :)

How far are you in the game?

You can get two any death talents mid to late game, one from Spellbinder and how from Pyro.

Also i was using 2 x con/vigor runes to be able to use the armor i liked.
I'm stuck with two bosses, the spider witch on one side and some giant on the other. I think my build is garbage (I pivoted to pyromage at some point) but I don't want to restart, and I don't want to continue either if the whole game is going to be such a struggle. I think I'm going to stop here and go play something else :-)

Ah okay you are early on.

As soon as you kill the "spider witch" you get one of the best spells in the game.

i can understand that fight can be hard, as there is a lot going on and you are missing your tools.

Try to be in melee range and cast your spell, so you always have stamina for dodging.

If you run out of mana, make sure to have plenty of mana pots on you. I did pop a few on that fight.
Yeah, I go pretty far in the fight, usually staying behind her but it's long since I don't do a lot of damage and I always end up taking the poison spit attack that oneshots me, or getting immobilized and killed. I think I could beat her eventually, but I'm not having fun.

Sad to hear, as i my self really enjoys the game, but do remember that fight being a bit of a bummer as a Spellbinder the first time.

If you stay in melee, you should be able to dodge behind the boss when it uses the poison spray. It hurts like a truck.

One more hint if you do decide to go for it, you can get good that buff your health by 50 hp, from the inn.
I'll try again tomorrow with the buff
I followed your advice and pushed a bit further and right after the spider lady I started finding the stuff I needed. New spells, more health potions and better gear. I'm still a bit fragile but my DPS went up dramatically which is what I signed for. So thank you :)

Yeah, pretty much. The magic user can simply stand back from a safe distance and spam powerful spells. 4 of the 6 classes to choose from are essentially different types of mages.

I have expressed how the game should allow melee players using 2 handed weapons (or sword and shield) should be allowed to use spells and abilities without holding a relic. And people investing in the rogue class should be able to use their respective abilities without dual-wielding daggers. It would add a ton of variety to the combat.

But I get the feeling the developers have no intention of changing anything. Some people have shared the same gripes with the combat. But I haven't seen a comment from the dev even acknowledging the topic.
