Late game tanks hard.
I've never seen a metroidvania fall off so hard after half way.

- Entropy portals are ass to play through with nothing at stake because you respawn at the portal with no loss, just to try again. No stakes + tedium = not fun. It's just a time sink.

- Damage scales up way faster than defence does. The end game is you melting everything but getting 1-3 shot, it's not fun.

- Did the devs just forget to add checkpoints because the death runs are agony, especially given the point above where you can be near insta-killed by a pair of mobs or one shot killed by a boss.

- Gear upgrades are either far between or come one after the other in rapid succession, pacing is terrible. Most gear you find is useless because of the way the game does builds.

- Most abilities in the game are ♥♥♥♥ so you just end up spamming the same 2-3 abilities through the entire game start to finish.

- Levelling up your merchants in camp is way too slow, you need to do Skyrim dagger blacksmithing to level them up painfully slow.

I spammed fireball the whole game to victory. Yeah, kinda hoping there was more to the pyromancer tree haha
The pacing is ass yeah. You're given too little early on so classes play the same and the first third of the game you're likely using the single skill you started with.

The traversal skills are also given out too late, and there isn't even anything exciting in the areas you get access to? Double dog boss fight - nothing but crafting materials. Oh wow

- They stop adding checkpoint to ramp up your playtime to meet 40 hrs

- my lvl 70 char got 1 shot by last 2 bosses no matter their moveset very anooying

First zones feels good but after the castle it kinda goes downhhill in quality. Still i found the playthrough fun, but i wish there was more to do while progress through the story. Upgrading camp does not feel that good, hence it's not a good substitute compared to side missions so forth for the journey.

Entropy sections really messed up the pacing. I feel like the ice area is pretty well done, and was a great change of pace after the dreadful castle to library segments. Then the final biome was ass again. My fondest moments are still the first 10 hours of the game.
I agree with all your points. I'm still enjoying the game but the game definitely gets worse as it goes on and some of the weaker parts really start to show.

I also feel like the game would have been much more enjoyable without blueprints and crafting. It would have been nice to just find weapons and armor in the world and be able to equip it right away. As a pure STR build there's only a few options and I've been looking at an S scaling mace that I can't craft for the last 5-10 hours because the Blacksmith isn't leveled up.

I'm so glad to read posts like this and knowing that's not only me, i did get the deluxe on console for 50e which imo it's absolutely crazy considering that i recently got khazan for 60, ai limit for 30 and in a couple of days Enotria (physical) for 30 and Clair Obscure for 50 just to give some examples and they are way more akin to price for the quality of the game that you get no way that this is double A 40e worth game, but still i was quite satisfied with my purchase and pushing through the game even with the numerous bugs and as a vindicator too with it's atrocious balance but at exactly the castle the game really fell apart for me. Castle Braer it's really when the game really shows all it's problems, and you still have to fight the Marionettes (which i don't even know where to begin how bad the design is), the runback to the boss after, the platforming rift, the super slow levelling of the caravan and so much more...

With all the other stuff and bugs if just feels like they started great and then rif raffed the end a bit to 'quickly' release it. Well that and the EULA crap make me glad not to buy this game. ;p

I got one leather armor with spirit/knowledge early in the game, and haven't seen a single piece of gear for my character since. I have access to half a dozen sets with power/knowledge, but screw Wyldwardens and Sentinels I guess.
I'm definitely agreeing with you on these portal sections. I've been avoiding them like the plague because they're such a drag. These would be hard enough without the disappearing platforms or the 'time' element.

High damage high risk sounds perfect though. I can deal with being squishy if everything else is.
I’ve never got 1-3 shot. You just don’t have defense or defense skills etc.

Merchant leveling is fast. And easy. Except 18-20 blacksmith.

Best to use mail/plate early on when you still have to melee a bit. Actually until end-game you'll likely be better off using heavy torso and legs plus leather head and gloves.

Dunno how he’s never seen another piece with those stats I could name like 10 pieces. I think people are on the struggle bus without having their hand hold by YouTubers
