When you defeat the tome Mistress, you can ask lord Auberon to stop the attack on the village, and he agree, even if he say he need to feed so he will hunter others we do not know.... So yes for the survivors there is hope, not a bright future but still something.
I will left this definition here for you.
"Role-playing game : a game in which players take on the roles of imaginary characters who engage in adventures, typically in a particular fantasy setting overseen by a referee."
FWIW, I agree with you that this quest had a weak resolution, the inquisitor had been killing vampiric creatures left and right prior to meeting the father, it makes no sense that a newly turned, heavily wounded vampire can escape him. Would've made more sense to let the player chase then kill him and tell the daughter, then help her get to safety after.
Unfortunately, the game simply isn't that kind of RPG. It's not that big on choices, narrative-wise.
Ah! Sorry for the misunderstanding about this. I feel the same about this quest, not a lot of choice. It feel like the best choice is to left the quest unfinished to give a chance to the girl to live. But it feel not really sastifying (no quest reward or completion ^^ )
