While its not the best metroidvaina sound track its pretty good.
I´ve barely noticed any music, just some moody wailing in the background and a few guitar strokes..
Go to theater area (if you are that far) turn the other sound effects down, and turn your overall audio up. I was honestly feeling the same as you, until I realsed it was mostly because the music is so low that every thing else drowns it out.
Some of the audio mixing is off so I recommend boosting the music and turing the oither things down, and while not all of the music is memorable you will find some decent tunes that set the mood for the level pretty good.
