Now and than the level-design is questionable, but for the most part it is ok.
But balance does not exist. There seems to be no noticable difference between wearing cloth armor (like 1 armor each piece) and full plate (like 20 armor each piece). In cloth you are faster and evade/roll further than in plate armor, on the other hand plate does not mitigate more incoming damage... the basic (first) enemy you encounter needs about 5 hits to kill you either in cloth or plate armor. Weapons do not scale properly... like you start with 10 damage and pretty soon the enemie have 300-500 hitpoints. And later you get a 12 damage sword and so far havent found anything btter, and with a ton of skilling strength I raised it to 15, which is still not enough. Oh and, of course, magic scales way better, does decent damage. Merchants do not replenish their stock, so when you purchased those 10 lockpicks you are done and you only rely on drop for that point on. Overall, the game is ok, but the frustration levels are quite high. Btw I do not think the demo is going to help... I loved the demo, but its everything that comes after it, that starts to be frustrating.
There is a feeling of progresion?
My general take is that it's a very enjoyable exploration game 95% of the time, the other 5% being quite a bit frustrating, but not enough to tarnish the whole thing.
Combat is solid if lacking a little bit of umph when it comes to the impact of your attacks, but the enemy variety is solid and well designed.
Build selection and character customisation is honeslty the highlight, it's extremely free and rewarding, and the game lets your respec pretty generously in case you want to experiment. You can even modify your spells to have them behave in different ways, and all of the skill trees have synergy across each other making multi'class'ing pretty rewarding.
Story itself is neat even if the dialogue is not the best, but that's not super my wheelhouse so I'll reserve judgement on that.
