No, I get that and have done that.
have gotten to the gardens, found the lakeshore, made my way across the lake and found the field of dreams or what ever its called, also found the bloke in the alter world who asks for 6000 essence.
but after that, where the actual f*** are you supposed to go?
If you can't tell, I'm a little annoyed at this point as I have no idea of where to go.

It seems nobody bothers to tell you, that's a bummer. I got stuck in the same place as you and your thread was the only one I found. What you actually need to do, is stay at the jump pad that you would use to jump to the portal to take you to the guy with the essence. Only instead of jumping left to the portal, there's another portal just above you, appearing and disappearing. And that is the portal you have to jump through to progress through the entropy and the game. Very cryptic and stupid passage indeed, especially since the way the map works in the entropy, it shows you that you've explored everything there is already.
