Double Jump

i am probably just very impatient but there a several areas where i dont get to and i just want to know if there is a double jump or just another way.

There is a grappling hook you get eventually.

There's both a Grappling Hook and Double Jump as unlockable features. The hook can be found first and can be used speicic positions to swing over gaps/spikes etc and get to the other side of the room, the double jump is unlocked really late in the story so you need to backtrack to areas you wasn't able to reach without it.
