Chests requiring lockpicks is ridiculous and add nothing of value to gameplay except to pad game length
This is utter nonsense and unnecessary. Anyone agree?

I agree, but if you buy lockpicks from the map guy for 100 each it's much less of a problem.

It's fine, you won't find yourself unable to open a chest if you collect the lockpicks scattered around the world as you go and buy the ones sold by the aforementioned "map guy".

Don’t agree because all the minor inconveniences builds up the get ready in camp-feeling. Ok without but a nice mini-immersion task with.

This I agree, I wish steam has neutral review, then this game will definitely be a neutral one for me. It did a lot of things right, I have enjoyable moments, but for the things it didn't do right, there's absolutely no reason to do it in the way the dev did. Lockpick included.

So we just stripping out all non-essential game play now?

I agree, this adds nothing to the game. There is no decision making involved, you simply have to buy lockpicks to get loot.

A gameplay system should allow you to make some kind of meaningful choice. But this is just a no brainer.

Oh no i have to buy lockpicks in a game where i can farm money so easily? Or find them while exploring?
Is stamina adding something to the game too? Maybe they should take it off since its keeping me from going fast, killing and looting, you telling me i have to wait a few seconds to recharge?
Is the jumping and climbing really that necessary? Why not put a flat surface for me to run and kill without hassle?

Lets just strip away all mechanics that give the game some weight you know, whats next? Crafting is too much and dont add anything either?

I mean, yeah, now that you say it, the crafting is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grating.

but in good faith: if it's so easy to farm money and buy the thing that makes chests basically not locked... why lock them in the first place, OR why not make the contents really valuable and the keys more rare?

like... what does it add to the game for you?

Your other humorous examples all lead to more mechanics, choices and engagement.
Lockpicks though... not so much?

Man people just love to ♥♥♥♥♥....
Yes: many mechanics, including "locked chests" which can be opened by using your gold (buying lockpicks) are there to artificially increase the playtime and also giving users another useless reason to spend their gold.
Agreed. In all games that contain chests, they should either just be available to be open, or there should be some kind of fun mini puzzle involved. They should never involve pick locks or dice rolls imho.

All that happens otherwise is:

1. I buy pick locks at every opportunity and by the end of the game I have a million
2. I savescum until I get the dice roll I need.

Either way, it's a bit silly.

Clown :poop:
The problem is not that you need to buy lockpicks, but that they are never available for sale

I'm starting to think people don't play games, they just play complaint simulators.

I mean. I am not going to disagree totally. It feels like it was tacked on and adds no real value.

That being said, I have never had an issue. I bought lockpicks from vendors, find them on occasion, and have never run out since the first 2-3 chests that were locked. Its a minor chore to ensure I have lockpicks, but its anything but a real waste of time anyway. Its not like they take up a huge amount of space in my inventory anyway
made a post about it as well, its like a 3 gate nonsense for absolutely nothing. like just have the loot you make me go through a platform section, a secret wall and a fight to FIND a locked chest.. ♥♥♥♥ off
