why only "mostly positive"? Love souls games and metroidvanias but now a bit concerned to buy it.
Is the hate because of the price tag or does it actually suck? I expected this to get pretty high praise because it looks great. Honestly i'll play it either way but whats the problem?

*cough cough EULA cough cough*

That is seriously the majority of reason game has been dropped a couple pegs. Pretty sad.
over that? oh i dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about that.. okay.. glad its some dumb issue and not gameplay related.
kind of is gameplay related when you cant even load the game on a windows pc because the system recognizes the executable as a VIRUS (contains a trojan)

I had played the demo for no more then 30 mins and I got tired of it. It's boring, clunky and the characters designs are very bland. And the price is just stupid as there are far better metroidvania's out there that are no where near this price. This is pure greed, plain and simple.

Also, there are many players that are reporting that the game is being flag as a virus or something and that people'S PC's won't run the game. If this is true, then this is unacceptable and disgraceful.

okay.. well in that case its simple. I'll get the "free version" and if its good ill buy it. 40 is steep if a game is bland and has extreme privacy violations. Can't get my info through a torrent and vpn

Just play the game offline, simple. GOG, for example.

This version "collects info from your PC and sells it to third parties" (C) that's what ppl write. Plus antivirus often finds trojan in the executable file. The game itself is not bad, 3 out of 5, which is good. But it's best to use the offline GOG version. And block it from accessing the Internet via a firewall.

People are so damn paranoid these days.
Better not use your smartphone, credit cards, ordering your pizza online, or better yet, never leave your home. Just hide under the rock.

Read the review and ignore anything that is not about gameplay.
So far I've only seen 1 valid point in reviews: If you block a hit, the enemy still applies the status to you. This is genuinely stupid if true.

I suspect people being mad about the game price and deluxe, but are looking for reasons that can't be easily attacked. If you say "It's too expensive" you'll get dimwits trying to call you a broke or suggest you don't buy it instead of simply acknowledging it's the most expensive metroidvania to date.

Case in point: First they were mad about denuvo. It got removed. Next they were mad about EULA (most people never read that, so it's more of a bureaucracy boycott than a natural outrage) and that got fixed too. What's the next thing? No lockpicks? not enough moves in a METROIDVANIA? For now most of that is the "too much water" review.

Hilariously, there is actually a "No lockpicks" post a few down from this one. The guy missed Gerald somehow.

that and the guy complaining he beat the tutorial in 15 minutes, claiming it was too fast.

This game deserves way more love that it is getting right now considering something like Ass-ass-in-s C(g)reed Shadows(of its past) sits at very positive.
I opened thread avbout this as well. Seems like vast majority of complaints is abgout EULA and the lack of ultra-wide support (!!!!). This is beyond ridiculous even by the standard of early user reviews on steam ('I didn't get stable 45845756 frames per second on this ridiculous resolution on the new ultraexpensivo PC I just bought with daddy's credit card - negative review, utter trash!)

here's a thing: play the demo or play the game for ~2 hours and possibly refund. Make your own decisions and don't bite on reviews.

idk what all that EULA stuff is about but honestly I wouldn't recommend this game regardless

It's very tedious and boring, gave up on it after like 9 hours and those hours weren't exactly fun. I am a big fan of both soulslikes and metroidvanias as well but this one just didn't click.

The crafting system is idiotic, the platforming is meh and the combat is sleep inducing. Probably doesn't help that I played it right after I finished another run of Hollow Knight either. It was like going from eating pizza to eating dirt.
